Future Expansion : The Age of Worms

Just a suggestion for a future expansion or adventure pack maybe a couple of years from now or whenever, which is the Age of Worms. Not too sure about any licensing hiccups related to this campaign as The Age of Worms was first published in Dungeon Magazine from 2005 to 2006, but adapting it to DDO should prove to be not too big of a challenge (with story-updates as necessary) as the campaign involves a 12 part adventure which could end with a raid for us players.

Spoilers from here on out, in case you're currently playing the campaign on tabletop or elsewhere.

Turn back now if you want to avoid any spoilers.

Notable creatures, possible raid bosses, or mega rare encounters in the explorer area:
1. Ulgurstasta and Overworms
2. Worm Drake
3. Spawns of Kyuss, Kyuss Knights, worm swarms and worm Nagas
4. Wild Watcher
5. Spellweavers
6. Krathanos the cursed titan
7. Harrowdroth the ancient nightmare beast
8. Dragotha the dracolich
9. Lashonna the vampiric silver dragon
10. Kyuss, "The Worm that Walks"

Notable items and artifacts within the campaign:
1. The Rod of Seven Parts
2. Sphere of Annihilation
3. The Hand of Vecna

Notable campaign mechanic:
Worm Curse - on touch or when falling into a worm pool a Kyuss worm could burrow inside a player's body, slowly moving towards the brain with a possible countdown timer, and upon ending the worm burrows into the brain and causes instant death. On player death a Spawn of Kyuss, Kyuss Knight or worm zombie appears. Can be removed with Remove Curse, Remove Disease, Heal.

The 12 part adventure could culminate in a raid where the players assault a newly-built Spire of Long Shadow (ala Tower of Despair or Tempest Spine) built in the now-besieged town of Alhaster, wherein to banish Kyuss (or weaken ala Sorjek Incanni), the players would need the three artifacts mentioned above, with the Sphere of Annihilation and the Hand of Vecna possibly collectible within the raid itself from Dragotha and Lashonna. Kyuss himself could potentially be a 2-phase raid boss, with monsters continuously spawning in the 2nd phase kinda like in the Tower of Despair raid. Just throwing some ideas out there so the possible raid could be challenging with multiple strategies required, and also fun to run.

Could be interesting to see adapted to DDO in the future.
