Future transfers from Cormyr to other 64 bit servers?

"In the future we intend to offer transfers to and from Cormyr once our updated Character Transfer technology is ready to go."
I think the transfer to is dumb. They should keep it as much of a fresh start server as they can. There a lot of players that enjoy that. It's one of the many reasons players like hardcore

A related question is whether transfers among 64 bit servers will be free. If not, the head start Cormyr has will essentially make it the super server (especially for VIPs having daily gold rolls).

The European server would likely have a healthy population due to the location. Any new US-based servers will probably be ignored, though they may appeal to players wanting more solitude.

Transfer off should be possible at least and for free, because players from Europe are better off transfering to European server than staying on US focused Cormyr (as well as others closer to Amsterdam server than LasVegas server from Cormyr or matching EU primetime better with their personal playtime)

We know transfers from 32 bit to 64 bit worlds will be free. We don't yet know if transfers from Cormyr to other 64-bit worlds will be free.

The issue is that we really don't know if the 64 bit server will have any less lag than the current 32 bit servers. No one now on Cormyr has a tr cache or tons of alts with bank space. The true test will come when theres 300-400 players there with all their goodies transfered with them. Then we will finally know if theres improved performance or not. After all, the game is still on a 32 bit platform even if the servers are 64 bit.

There are many characters with TR caches on Cormyr right now. I'm a piker with just two and only 6 or so lives on my main there.

It is only fresh start for a few months, I already had 3 past lives on Cormyr. Hardcore will still be around next year.

The problem from my perspective is that whatever else Cormyr was it was a refuge from the Methuselahs and their meta warping social and play styles.

I'm not looking forward to having the people who play DDO like a job becoming the dominant characters on the server again.

I figured they'd transfer to other 64-bit servers when the time came, because Cormyr was blocked, and Cormyr would remain a relatively low power server with a much better grouping paradigm than the one that exists on all the 32-bit servers save Wayfinder today.

If TR caches are destroying the game... devs could always just fix those?

You’d think that… but it’s not the case lol

Knew a guy who transferred so much garbage when they last offered free transfers that his account was flagged and prevented from transferring other toons. Don’t know what ever came of that!

I’m over here with 2 bank toons for my main and I think that’s too much. Feed it allllll.

Are there going to be multiple 64-bit servers? Or is Cormyr it? The OP asked about other 64-bit servers, but the devs only responded answering to Cormyr .

I assumed that Cormyr would be a testing server and eventually would be replaced, similar to Lamania. But it seems that the Cormyr of today is here to stay and I just wanted to get my 2 cents worth in about character and guild names.

I logged in to Cormyr the other day and noticed that most of my character names are already taken. I didn't really get to participate in the early work since I was not a VIP.

I have been VIP off and on and have spent a lot of money on DDO points over the years (far more than a yearly vip subscription) and I feel it is a bit unfair to lose my best character names just because I wasn't VIP for the few months that all of this "testing" work was going on.

I have played this game for over 10 years and feel like my loyalty and time spent here should be worth something. I don't particularly care for anything VIP offers, and from the complaints, I see that many of you who are VIP feel the same way.

So I decided to cancel my VIP and support the game by buying DDO points instead. (There should be a ddo point only VIP subscription that gives you the same "priority" level as VIP even if you don't get the lame pertks. ) And I have supported this game financially for over a decade. I just don't feel that someone who started in the last few years, even if they are VIP should get first priority on character names.

The same can be said for guild names. When guilds get transferred, who gets the name, because I can assure you that most of the big guild names are already taken on Cormyr. Poaching these names, either intentionally for profit, or unintentionally through fondness of the name, will be an issue.

In my opinion, the character or guild on all the servers that was created first should have first naming rights. The people who have created characters on the Cormyr server should not necessarily get to keep those names. I am sure some of you who are currently playing Cormyr will think differently.

I don't know if this has been addressed. I don't know if the devs are making this part of their "mass move" software.
