I have been playing DDO on my current computer for about 6 months with no difficulties. The computer is a ROG STRIX rig with plenty of power, memory and a SSD drive. I have high speed internet over Fiber (1.5 GBs) and my machine is plugged into ethernet directly. I can play DDO with the highest graphic settings. I logged in after maintenance a couple of weeks ago and I am now experiencing game freezes about every minute or so. As far as I can tell, nothing was updated on my computer before this issue started (no Windows updates, no updated video drivers, no changes to firewall, no changes to AV/malware). I haven't seen the behavior described elsewhere on the forums or online. The game engine, including music, will pause for about 2-4 seconds about every minute or so. Play pauses for me but the game world keeps going and I will continue to take damage in combat. It's fairly consistent with regards to timing. I have been through a couple troubleshooting checklists but with no success. It almost seems that there is a process/check/poll that runs every minute or so that interferes with the game. But I don't understand what has changed to make this happen. The only thing I can think of is the day before I had trouble with my USB webcam during a videoconference call. I quit the browser and unplugged the camera. Once I plugged the camera back in and restarted the browser, the videoconference worked fine. I read on the troubleshooting lists that USB devices can cause lag. To troubleshoot this issue, I unplugged my USB devices (camera & headset) and I removed the devices from my Device Manager list (I used the reveal hidden devices to be able to remove them while they were unplugged). The USB devices work fine but the game freezes are still happening
Anyone else experience this issue and have any advice on how to fix it. Any help would be appreciated.
