Ok thread title was total clickbait.

First just to make it clear- ssg owes us jack and bleep. it works out to something like .33 of a usd for not playing and i worked 16 hours today so i prob wouldnt have played anyway.

Second: it would be buying some good will and showing some coolness if ssg would give us something for the downtime - especially sense it was unexpected.

My greedy suggestion would be 1 bound ottos box per account that is bta.

how ever 100-500 points wouldnt go amiss either.

Thoughts?

It is common for games to give in game currency for downtime (expected or not). I am by no means saying it is owed, but I wonder how the community would feel about 15 AS credited each downtime.

A game that I play once gave out ~$30 worth of in game currency because they updated the UI and some people didn't like it.

I'm generally not a contrarian, but I spent money on DDO. Never been VIP. Due to today's sentiments and morays I spread around about 100 amognst my accounts to support the game. Accross several servers I made it rain on the Shard Exchange.

BTW Cannith is on life support. Switch default server to Cannith or give all accounts a heroic and epic otto's box on Cannith only for the down time? Saddest AH and SE on the breeze thru. Can't spend shards there if not allot posted. Pickins were very slim. Wayfinder-esq.

I think it is a nice thing to make us all feel better, the gesture. Doesn't have to be something big. Make a raider's reward box. Make a totally new item and call is a Compensation reward box with choices.

Just going to also say, i don't understand why this post will offend people. On the facebook groups, it sure does. There will be a bunch of people who are against the idea of us being compensated.

To me personally I don't like to ask for or demand handouts but it might be the way I was raised.

I don't feel like we are entitled to compensation every time something unexpected happens or when a downtime maintenance require extra time.

With that said IF they gave us something as a gesture of goodwill I wouldn't refuse to take it.

As for what that compensation should be I would like to say this:

It's always something extravagant or really expensive that is asked for, like the Otto boxes. I would say if they did that as an end of the year thing I could see a expensive free gift beeing a very nice gesture but after every time they have an extra downtime or unexpected downtime, just no and please stop beeing greedy (my opinion).

My suggestion would be like a free gold roll or something like that. It would literally cost them nothing really and as said I don't expect anything but if they wanted to do something for the community that's my suggestion.

Most of those who get offended are likely offended when players 'Demand!' compensation rather than suggest it. It's the entitlement that offends.

as i said the ottos was a very greedy ask.

my suggestion is a small amount of points to everyone

500 max like 200 is lower end

Well here is where my opinion differs from yours. 500 points is like 7,5 dollars worth if you buy points where I think the compensation IF they want to give such should be more along something that doesn't cost them anything in terms of real money.

Now you can argue that 500 points isn't costing them anything since there is nothing real about those points, they are just in game currency more or less. It is however a source of income for the games owners. If you are given 500 points it means that you are not spending 7,5 dollars to buy 500 points. Now multiply that with all the players that otherwise would have spent 7,5 dollars to buy points, that adds up to loss of income.

Now if you were given something like a free gold roll you can get some really nice things and you might end up with just platinum and a small xp crystal/orb. This is likely not going to cost SSG much in loss of income and are imo a more suitable compensation for something like this, especially if it occurs a lot in a short period of time.

Its not the monetary value its the principal. Having said that I think asking for Ottos is unrealistic given SSGs track record. Sov II pot is probably the best you could reasonably get.
