GMs are needed

I love how people in this thread just say "restart" or just plain do not expect basic mmo help. It's really sad that when I wiki quests, there are some with tags of warning that say "This can bug out the quest, forcing you to restart", I actually had a Lord of Blades Raid be bugged to where the Raid Boss could NEVER be killed, obviously we reset; but a time saver would of been active GM's. I doubt turbine can afford them at this juncture but it's sad when people suggest actual, useful things that basically any other mmo has but gets torn about in the thread.

It's annoying when a quest bugs, but you say "when you get stuck in a quest, which happens quite often."; how often is that happening for you? And what quests?
It happens often.
Yesterday it happened in Von1, some mob being stuck behind bars so completion wasn't possible.
An online, ready to accept messages GM could've solved this by either killing the stuck mob or moving the mob outside the room or opening the gate.
My time is not worthless and neither is anyone else's.
The justification for the high price was "support crew needs to be paid".
Well, where is the support crew when you need it?
It's not present and this sorry excuse for a ticketing system with absurd response times, if you receive one at all is not adequate.
1 month of VIP is $15.
For what?

EQ2 has in game volunteer guides, those are players who receive a free subscription in exchange for them doing pre-defined quests and keeping the population happy aka giving out stuff.

That's not what I'm asking for.
I'm asking for someonen that's 3 people, each one in 8h shifts, to cover 24h a day of being available when someone gets stuck in a buggy quest, because race conditions or whatever other reasons a quest can't progress.
It's not unheard of and would justify the high price and provide actual value, not those useless trinkets.

Actually.. this could be even solved by AI, when I think about it.
Since it's really good at computational problems, this would be a perfect fit.
It's able to analyze code and quests are code, when you prompt it correctly it could provide the player with various solutions where the player could pick 1 option.
AI is currently even doing ... idk how to say it in English.. when you call the doctor's practice and would like an appointment, AI is able to understand what you're telling it even if it's something unusual like "I'd like to change my email address".

GMs were available from January 2006 (in beta) till June 2009. The usual response time for me was 5 minutes back then. Then again, back then the max level was like level 16 and the heroic Shroud was just becoming available, plat still worth something, and so is a large devil scale.

I think after Eberron Unlimited got released, all GMs were gone.

Why not just Google/DDO Wiki/use an AI like ChatGPT, claude.ai, Copolit+ if you need quest help (those AI will use the DDO forums and other internet articles for knowledge base)

Also, if you do not know about the "/stuck" command, now is the time to know it.
It's not about "quest help" or being stuck.
It's about technical issues, if that isn't freaking obvious.
Seriously, people on forums sometimes...why do you even bother posting?

And right now, Qesnef (WPM quest) stuck in the door, healing itself to full, regarding "how often does it happen"
It happens, a lot. Tired of this crap

I see. File a bug report then. If you expect a (wo)man servant every time this game comes up with a bug, you'll be waiting until the servers shut down.
Where did i say anything about needing a gm? I just took the long way to point out how douchey your answer was. And you follow it up with another just as douchey. You need some practice.

I thought he meant he is literally stuck, so there was no malice in my original reply, just your imagination at work. I mistook you for the op since you were replying on my reply to him. Your title really is quite apt, regardless.

I've started back in 2010 and all I read in the forum was "you'll need to wait for at least an hour for GM to respond, it's faster to rerun the quest".

So when were those "golden times" with GMs exactly ? First 3 months after the launch of the game ?
It was later than that. I recall learning the hard way about the Strahd raid that if you died on a pile of dirt in the sarcophagus room holding the Sunsword, it could get stuck in the dirt and fail the raid. We put in a ticket and got a GM within 5 minutes (which, granted, was complete hit-or-miss luck), and the GM moved the Sunsword out of the dirt for us so we could complete.

This was right after Ravenloft dropped, so I’d say 2017 was the last time in-game GMs were potentially responsive. It wasn’t too long after that when they disappeared.

People are just making practical suggestions. If it sounds like they're ripping on the suggestions, that's unfortunate, but it's probably out of similarly sourced frustration.

Everyone here played DDO as a newbie and at one point or another has realized that the SSG just plain doesn't care about quality or integrity. Railing at them does nothing. They literally don't care.

It's hard to point a finger at a culprit. Can't say "oh, it's the devs not testing" because those of us that have worked in similar industries have seen unfinished work knowingly released without testing and/or approval. Can't say it's management because we've seen utterly incompetent coders.

IMHO, the only folk without sin at SSG are the creatives. Landscape and voice work is wonderful. For the rest, all we can say is that there is something rotten in the state of Denmark and they like it that way.

Well, the only MMORPG where I've asked for the help from GM was WoW. Usually, it ended up with "log-in next day, read the message from GM that everything has been fixed and I can continue with the game". So sorry for being sceptical about "5 minutes" answers. From a much, much smaller company.
And if they are not within the 5 min range, in most cases, in DDO it's easier to restart.

I personally never ever even heard that kind of bug. And to make it "often" ?! How come ?
Maybe you should stop trying to drag him through the door in the 1st place or something ? That's exactly why people can't understand how could you face such stuff "often"...

SSG is just a spin-off from Turbine with the same development and management team (and culture).

Weeeellll..... No.

I have a growing list of irritations with recent decisions & stuff, but Turbine was throwing us in the trash to go make stupid phone games.
