Great migration and renaming

I have some questions about renaming.

Since I don't want to be one of the first people to actually transfer a toon, instead I create a name holder of Bob on Thrane.

On the 19th after a lot of people have transferred some toons without any issues I then transfer my Bob from another server to Thrane were they get renamed to Bob-3 because 2 other people have already transferred their Bobs to Thrane.

Can I then delete my Bob on Thrane and rename my Bob-3 to Bob? Or is Bob forever taken because there is a Bob-1?

Similar situation, but this time I delete Bob just before I do the transfer. Will I get Bob on Thrane or will I get Bob-3?

In both situations assume that in the short time after I delete Bob on Thrane nobody else creates a Bob there.

One last situation. This time I have Bob-2 on another server (after transferring Bob from HC). Since Bob and Bob-2 both exist on Thrane when I transfer my Bob-2 what name does he get? Bob-3, Bob-2-2 or something else?

Bob-3 and Bob-4 after that ad nauseum.

As long as there doesn’t exist a Bob (which doesn’t make sense since the only way a Bob-1 can exist is for there to be a Bob original) you can pick Bob.

There is a small possibility that Bob original transfered off to another server leaving an opening.

Yes.

Just delete the character and rename your transfered character using the free rename.

Also, just like to say.. you will almost certainly not get your first pick in names if it’s a cool name.

The scramble to get names the first millisecond the servers open will be literally . . .

My main on Thelanis I'd like to keep but my 2nd & 3rd I'd rather rename if I could. Just too cheap to pay for it.
Some of my mules/ 2nd tier characters on different servers have the same names... not that I care much about that.

Yes.

Just delete the character and rename your transfered character using the free rename.

Not like that. Rhaja blocked his own name. There was no other Rhaja on the server. The Rhaja I could find in friends list was in my guild, but on the guild list, only Rhaja-1 exists. So my characters were blocking themselves.

Already have this covered. I made characters with the exact same name on every server. Even if no one else takes the name, all the guys from all the other servers will automatically get free renames.

While we are on the subject, if you transfer and someone else already has your name, will you have an unlimited amount of time to claim your renaming or do you have to rename your -1 character in a limited period of time?

unlimited. I renamed hardcore toons years after transferring them.

How about something more manageable, like Commodores-3 Times a Lady?
