Guesses about Season 9

There has been much speculation in the hardcore community about Season 9.

It was originally slated as a redux of season 3.

Season 3 was a 3 month season, with a 4 level split. The rewards were the archon helm, 1750, the celestial mount 5000, the lvl 20 cloak, the 10 reaper point cloak, and the 20 reaper point archonling pet. Extra lives earnable at lvl 8 and lvl 16, meaning by 20 you could have 3 lives. this allowed players to do raids like the shroud.

speculation has been that changes will be made, though none of this is confirmed the most likely will be

A redux of season 3 shortened to 2 months. The trend has been a 2-level split, so this may be modified too. Likely the rewards will remain the same however the 5k may be reduced to 3k. There may be a rxp bonus to assist in going to 10 and 20 reaper points due to the short 2-month season. The extra lives may be removed or modified.

Again this is all speculation.

It is possible too that elements are added that were not present in the original season 3, such as unique champions, or mobs, or rewards, or rules that we have not encountered yet.

It seems most likely to me that they'll follow past practice / only make the same changes they did to shorten season 2 for season 7;

Duration reduced from 3 months to 2
5000 favor reward at 3000
1750 favor reward at 1250
+20% Reaper XP

Also, the prior two 'redux' seasons both ran from the first Wednesday in December through the corresponding day in February. So, assuming they follow the same pattern... that'd be December 6th - February 6th.

The 2 month redux was an experiment; who knows what the results were on their end for profit vs 3 months. I could easily see them just doing 3 months with the same goals and level split this time around.

Both seasons five and seven were 2 month reduxes of previous 3 month seasons.
Oh. I thought 5 was full length. The requirements were the same unlike 7 that had reduced favor goals. Guess decent odds it could be short again then.

Best guess, a quick in and out just to nab some free quick ddo points on the new server. Cherry pick the easiest 1000 favor and not waste any of my limited casual player playtime. I hope it keeps coming back as the first time server ddo points are always going to be enticing.

I am going to miss spending the full time at hardcore, because is really enjoy the razzing of the RImSTroms and the Guy Smilies.

Especially the Guy Smilies other than a dozen of so shepherds that carry the herd thru, the rest are just “it” and “eep”. Followed by fav video roflmao(yep laughing at my own funniness)

I literally piss my self laughing thinking about what a group of smilies in a room would be like, do you think their leader has a chin that big(and not even a “eep” but more of a rhyme, ….. had a little lamb, little lamb)

Hehe

not a fan of returning seasons. i'd rather want to see you put your effort into new ideas for new hardcore seasons. i liked the dragon hoard season, since it moved away from the favor grind. sure - that is a major objective for a hardcore server, yet after 7 times it gets boring. new tasks to fulfill on HC are fun.
instead of having 2 HC seasons per year i'd like to see a long-term event on a standard server. keep switching it up a bit

I wont be participating as I wont go VIP during sales months (not being able to open elite as non vip is a deal breaker to me)

please make it at +2 base for quests whatever you do to at least maintain some challenge and need for periodic grouping.

The Problem when you do this is, it actually reduces the amount of people that group. I have experienced this first hand. When it was first introduced i thought it was an excellent idea. As it makes the game more challenging. But all it does is reduce the amount of LFM's. I know people say well you can just run it under level, but lets be honest in Hardcore your trying to mitigate the risk of dying rather than increasing the chances of dying by running under level. I really hope they keep it at +4. The main reason i play Hardcore rather than live is due to the fact people are willing to group (i do enjoy the cosmetic rewards. but i would still play this mode with rewards). For me its all about playing this game as it should be as a group :)

Hopefully the season redux for season 3 doesn't have 3 lives again ?
Hope it does actually, this hardcore will be my first hardcore where the sole reason i will be playing at all is to take advantage of the first time ddo points per server for favor, so want to playat as fast a rate as possible at a higher risk level because of that speed to farm that favor as quick as possible, skipping any lengthy favor per minute quests.

Spending nothing as usual and earning quick DDO Points

at +4 theres no real reason to group everything is just pretty much a snooze through and no need to group

Lol Mortal Voyage permadeath is a challenge, hardcore is a snoozefest for challenge and is purely just about execution.

The Hound was the only somewhat challenging season and put a stop to multiboxers. As a matter of fact i remember once during that season watching the same multiboxer loose 4 of his toons level 18 consecutively(they all had the same name with a different number). I died laughing!!

All hardcore is, is money into the system and i think most would agree, if it wasnt this you could make it harder.

You could not have ship buffs
You could not have house p/j buffs
You could not have store bought items like augments/xp pots/beholder absorption items
You could have no hirelings allowed
You could have no chest rerolls
You could block all reentry into quests so that teleport and word of recall would come at a cost
And if you dont want it to be a farm(limit gear farming) as you suggested in response to my post allow each chest to be looted only once a week

My experience with hardcore is unless you are pushing to be in the top end of the leaderboards hardcore is pretty simple.

which is why in almost all my posts about hardcore i am pushing for more of a challenge its the only server we have to possibly present a challenge and yet everyone seems to be against it. theres plenty of normal servers to just roll through content why cant we have one server that is geared toward people who actually want to be challenged in the game.

They will likely run it like they always do. Will likely include the Halloween event if they start it soon enough.
