Guild transfers on 64s

Do we have an official word if Guild Transfers are going to happen with the new servers? I imagine that some of the older servers (or all) will be shut down. Is the idea just for a fresh restart, or are we going to get some kind of coupon to rebuild guilds on the new servers?

Transfers instead of merges managed by SSG will create another over-full cesspool of a server. IMHO, they'll actually make more in cost savings by managing the merge and shutting down the 32b data center than they'd make with transfer fees.

If there are fees for moving to 64b, I'd guess 2/3 or more won't move -- and that's the rumbling with SSG muttering about being "fiscally irresponsible."

I wouldn't mind paying for a full transfer (nothing left behind), but I know the majority of my guild will balk and I'm not moving without full guild.

I will be curious to see how they will implement a guild transfer. Will they be able to transfer it whole-hog or will they need to have the guild owner break it down and re-create it on the other end?

Currently Guild leaders cannot transfer.

If I were doing it, and I'm not, Guild leaders would now show up on the transfer list, but highlighted somehow, with an extra confirmation step indicating moving this character will transfer the guild, guild ship and all associated resources.

One thing I can't figure out how to handle is guild roster, do you move the guild roster intact, or do you blank it and make people rejoin on the other end. I can see arguments both ways *ponder*

They've said they're working on making the various things that don't transfer work (like guilds, monster manuals, pets, etc.); but until they make the tech work, they've announced nothing beyond 'working on it'.
And as time goes by, I'm feeling less and less confident that they'll get everything, or indeeed anything, working, transfer-wise,

Overfull DDO servers is an oxymoron. This is a niche game that requires an advanced degree in gaming to understand. The most populated server ever is Hardcore, and that's a thriving community for the first few weeks before attrition. I look forward to being on a server with plenty of LFMs compared to now.

Most everyone I play with is looking forward to moving to a new server with a healthier population. My biggest concern is that the guild my wife and I have has a unique guild name that uses a symbol and number in it's name. Those cannot be used when naming a guild now. Our guild is 15+ years old and I'd hate to lose the name. I'm really hoping that everything for the guild just transfers, name and all.

I'm kind of hoping that at least some of the guilds get Ghostbustered and we have guides named "The Real Silver Legion" and so on.

I see what you did there
I'm ready to buy a Kraken airship now, but I'm not ready to buy more shards to make the ship purchase until I know what will & what won't transfer to the new server. Both of those items will be on hold until we see some firm information on exactly how guild transfers will work.

Ain't that the truth! I find myself logging in, looking at LFMs and who's on in my friends list, and its a ghost town 95% of the time. I for one cannot wait to have more LFMs and perhaps see some of my old friends that left during the last free transfer.

Its pretty simple.
- Everything has to xfer. Guild, Shards, Shared Bank etc. Nothing gets left behind.
- MMs have to work again
- Lag needs to be better
- The server has to be more active (more lfm etc).
I dont mind if some names get a -1 added. Nor do I mind if I need to be reinvited into the guild. Those are minor things of no consequence. What I care about is being able to play the game.

The game right now is getting a bit stale for me - partly because raids more often than not run into lag and hence are not the fun they should have been. Partly because loot has gotten boring so neither quests nor raids really offer anything fresh.

If the server move is not successful I may consider that the end of the road for me.

I am certainly not going to claim that there will be no technical issues with the upcoming transfers. There may even be disappointments from SSG realizing that some things we all need to transfer are simply not technically possible(I really hope this isn't the case) But overall, this is going to be a very positive change for the game. The concentration of players is going to make the game more fun for all of us. The benefit will be felt the most by us regular players, but even new players will have a better experience with a more active community.

That being said, I am definitely not transferring my important characters or gear on day one. I will transfer some junk stuff to serve a s test and maybe submit some bugs.

The best DDO time is HC season because of the sheer number of people and ease of grouping. I'm really hoping the server merges can bring some of that magic to regular play. I miss the days where every single night there were multiple raid groups for shroud or whatever such that it became really easy to learn them. Would be awesome to just have everyone all together so we could build double-decker couches.

Excel spreadsheet for guild roster.

I believe it was the post about how they handled transfers in LoTRO that suggested guild leaders would have to go first with the ship and establish the guild on the new server, then re-invite all the members.

Optimistic, but cautious. I intend to wait a little while before making any moves, and will also start with some inconsequential characters.

Hopefully, it won’t suffer the same fate as Orien appears to have with overpopulation. This change can be a real boost for DDO, but not without risk.

Orion had lots of groups for a while but that has died down. Now Orion is far from bustling
