I support this and all benefits stay on the HC server only^ Reason #352 why HCL should have been it's own permanent server.
No transfers.
No wipes. (well, unless you die)
No player migrations (after the first one)
HCL players get their server and non- HCL folks can ignore it.
---------- Done deal
Don't even need special prizes, just turn on HCL rules ... keep a running ladder of the strongest players still alive
and otherwise leave them alone.
Heck, need financial incentives ? Charge 100 DDO coin rent per month to use it.
All fixed.
On the contrary, I hated it.
There was literally no LFMs on Orien when HC was on.
If I want to stress myself with a perma-death situation I can just say to my wife that it looks like her shirt shrank in the dryer

My hound experience was the opposite of 20.hated it every time I died either to lag or crash to desktop the last time I had just about finished the last quest to give me 20 and a hound appeared with a lot of.lag a complete TPK no.more wasting time on hardcore
Had someone decide to pike Von3. Hound spawned on them while the rest of the party was about halfway through the quest. Nothin we could do.My hound experience was the opposite of 20.
I don't like to read previews of what the HC season is going to be, I love the surprise of it.
So that season starts, server opens up, I character create a minute later, log in and begin.
Trying to get my bars and keys in order, but mass log ins on Korthos is already beginning to cause stutter.
Fine, we grab Heyton's Rest, and zone into there to get my keys in order with less lag.
Taking a couple minutes, inventory, windows, and bars all over my screen being organized.
What's that howl? Did they add sound effects to Heyton's?
BAM BAM BAM
'Death has claimed another!'
I didn't even get to kill a single mob![]()
Here is the rub.
Most of the folks against a dedicated HCL server give the reasoning,
"It will be a waste of time and resources because hardly anyone will use it."
The truth ?
They are really afraid that everyone will use it and stay there.
If they created a dedicated HCL server that was always on and it's own thing, it would be one of the top populated servers, if not the biggest.
Problem is it isn't anything like hardcore.Theres a hardcore like event coming later this year. Maybe they give us something better than lanterns.
Being on a server where you can become the best of the best ... and prove it (via ladders)It was popular because it was time limited. It would not be popular at all if it was permanent.
Look at how few people currently play their own hard core rules on regular servers. Which is all this would be.
Make it pay-to-play, that would help too. I wouldn't mind forking over some cash to be able to do hardcore again.I think the separate server worked way better too and want to see it return. I also understand people's concerns with it draining normal servers but maybe there's a compromise here...make it a 1 month event not 2 or 3 - adjust favor/level goals to compensate for less time. Also, the draining server issue won't be felt as much these days since we're down to 4 now.
Third season was really good. It went full weird after that and lost it's luster.I miss hard core. I wasn't all that good at it but dang it was fun. I remember skipping work to hurry home and get online and get started. So fun!
That is all...
