Has Anyone Pulled the Legendary Demonsbane Hatchet?

According to the DDOwiki, it's one of four items that can be pulled from the end chest of Hideous to Behold in the Terror of Demogorgon expansion.

I've ransacked that chest on Elite twice with all the re-rolls and have not pulled it. I've pulled the other three items in that chest multiple times, though. I am using a Sovereign Discovery Elixir. My chance to pull named items should be 50%. 33% (elite diff) + 15% (elixir) + 2% (VIP bonus) = 50%

I'm thinking this is a RNG issue, but I'd be curious if anyone else is not seeing it drop like me.

0.5 * 6 ~= 1.5%

The chance of dropping at least one named is:

1 - 1.5% = 98.5%

Well, I can tell you the chests in Demogorgon are rigged.
For example, there is an X item in Y quest that my character(s) wanted. The dungeon was run on r10, r8, r4, r1, etc. like 20 times on different characters. Not using an elixir.

The probability of getting no copy is:
(0.33 + 0.1 (r10)) * 20 ~= 0.0013%.

The chance of looting named at least twice should be: 99.98%
However, I have gotten 1, which according to the probability is P(1)=20(0.43)(0.57)^19 = 0.0198%.

Someone said that the item is probably rare, but the developers did not document it as such; saying all items are not rare, only catalysts and some augments are rare.

16 runs (it takes 8 runs to ransack) with 4 end chest rolls and rerolls each time.

That's 64 pulls without getting the throwing axe.

At a 50% chance to pull a named item each time, that means 32 named items.

Assuming even distribution, I should have gotten 8 of the axes.

I've gotten none.

I've been farming some Solar PPR Augs and the Warlock trinket from there and have seen it on rerolls on Legendary (and Heroic FWIW).

I had to drink a Ransack potion farming Grand Theft Aureon over the last few days for the Light Armor that drops there, 38 re-rolls across 10+ runs. Sometimes you just get *super* unlucky with target farming, especially as a solo'er or with PUGs who DGAF.

The drop rates in Terror are abyssmal.

The items mignt not be rare per say, but the loot tables are heavily polluted by sun/moon augments and Duergarcraft weapons.

I'd say it's just as bad as Myth Drannor, if not worse.

I was sold to the pack at first, but not I'm not sure I like it.

The quests are great, but the rewards are too few and far between.

Maybe it's just my RNG, but I doubt it.

I didn't think to make note of whether Lunar or Solar augments dropped in addition to the named items.

I'll pay more attention to that the next time I try for the axe.

They came from the Chill of Ravenloft ultimate bundle and haven't come to the DDO store. Closest thing to the potion without the bundle is a Lesser Reincarnation, which has its own annoyances.

I saw two drop last time I ran that quest, I got a mythic+1, and the other person got a standard version.

I will say this was on R10, and both of us are VIPs at the most recent reward in the track, so supposedly that’s 12% higher chance of loot dropping over the alleged 33% Elite drop rate. (1% per reaper skull plus 2 years of 1% per year stacking VIP loot boost.) Neither of us were running loot boost pots.

RNG is just that, random. Sometimes it’s good, sometimes it’s bad. During this last run we had one or two named drops per quest, but I don’t recall any Catalysts dropping, as opposed to the the run before that where I believe we had at least 2 drop.

My bad on the late reply, some other's hooked you up. Pretty sure you got 2 for Chill of Ravenloft and 1 from Demogorgon, I had 3 of them in the bank. Kinda felt bad to burn one but I ransacked a few quests and wilderness chests on purpose.

Yet another legitimate time saving item that you'd think SSG would sell in the store but dont...I'd splash down for a few of em

You're probably right - I've open chests with a Duergarcraft weapon and another piece of named loot or an augment.

Nevertheless, it does feel like the drop rates are pretty low on named items.

Yeah exactly. You can get an augment or a named item, but not both. Steelstar mentioned that they tweaked the loot table to slightly favor named items for Chill, but in MD you're just as likely to get both. I did not see any notes about changes for Demogorgon, so I would assumed it's the same calculation: First there's the roll to see if you get anything (1/3 on elite), then the roll to see if you get a rare item (1/20), then the roll to see if you get a named item or an augment (something like a 60/40 chance for a named item). Pack ingredients, sentient xp, filigrees, pack weapons, all get rolled separately.

Yeah, I'm going to save my Ransack pots as my latest ransack timer is already half over.

And regarding selling these in the DDO Store, that seems like a no-brainer to me. Same with the Elixirs of Discovery.
