Has anyone seen any indication that SSG is aware of the lag issue since U81?

I remember reading that SSG had some performance tools to identify lag. It sure is an issue on Shadowdale and Thrane from what I hear as well.

Is there a post somewhere on Discord, or a mention at Gencon on a twitch stream, or somewhere else that indicates SSG is aware of the issue and working on it?

Questing isn't too bad, but raids have been awful during the evening and I was even in some raids with bad lag outside of normal peak hours.

Thanks for the link! The last time I was at Gencon I was a freshman in highschool and it was still in Wisconsin at some University.

I am not even familiar with what people are doing with bots running overnight. I only have my characters logged in when actively playing. I know years ago people used to get optional xp infinitely that way and SSG fixed it.

I don't completely buy that explanation because it was fine before U81 and problematic after. Unless of course it's something related to the new wilderness being exploited in which case they should just disable the reaper setting until they figure it out.

I saw peformance issues for several weeks before u81, things just got worse with u81 & in more locations (raids in particular).

That could be a difference between Shadowdale and Thrane. Everyone I talk to Shadowdale has the same experience as me that it started with the release of U81. And yes raids are much worse - so bad I cancelled raids this past Friday as the week before we had a lag wipe in THTH we weren't able to recover from. The day before raid performance was horrid so I didn't want to deal with laggy raids again.

I had it in the new quests and the airships are borked again but everywhere else has been ok.

Yeah, raids post-u81 are cooked. Pre-u81, I was seeing stuff estar public zone near unplayable, where everyone was having hitching/lag issues in that zone for entire weekends.

On Cormyr, seeing random lag spikes as well. Not in public areas, but quests I'll randomly get hitching but nothing too terrible.

What has been happening a lot are random CTDs or outright blue screens. At least twice per day I'll get a complete lockup. Zoning out of the Safehold in MD all the time, randomly in Ludendorf City Hall in CoRL, and then a bunch of different quests across Sharn, Lamordia, and IOD over the last few weeks during my RTR loop through heroics.

Pretty sure it's some combination of a memory leak on the 64bit client, graphics settings, my NVIDIA drivers, and Win 10

On moonsea to.

It's not like the 'bad old days', but there is a noticeable increase in dry-fires, failed casts and general stuttering. With high reaper and raiding it does cause some unfair extra deaths.

[On Thrane] I don't raid much (at least, not using raid-party sized raids), so I cant speak to that. I've noticed that in normal quests and public instances since the update there are situations where the instance will freeze for 3-15 seconds (which includes me and the monsters). It is more frequent during higher population timeframes, but not exclusive to those timeframes.

Raids during "NA primetime" are horrid on Thrane. Enough for me to not join/look at LFMs - and doing a full saga run has had an average of 1-3 quests with damn near quest ruining lockups and generally more small hitching but not quest ruining.

Quest ruining for me is a minute long period of warping in place, monsters killing the whole party and requiring a soft reset cuz players cant play for an extended period of time, and that can happen several times in a single quest...

And that clip on oozes (edit: or the reaper interaction with them) being the issue is a laughably bad joke. They fixed the reaper spawn from oozes and the lag only got worse since then.

Yeah I call BS on "bots farming oozes and creating reapers." As others have pointed out, the issues started before U81.

This seems to happen whenever a new expansion comes out. There's instability for a bit then things calm down as the player population spike that happens when an expansion comes out levels out. Cheap servers crumble under the weight of player population spikes. I don't need a hack shill to tell me that.

Have Tolero or Severlin explain what's going on. Tolero loves to talk about her "little tools," and put graphs in this year's Producer's Letter showing the reduction in noise on the servers after the lag fixes. Show us those. Have someone who actually makes decisions around this heap explain it and show their work and then I'll buy it, until then I don't care what the dude who cleans the toilets says.

I just don't get how in the Big 2026, they aren't using any HA infrastructure or using one of the many free and fully capable performance monitoring tools. There should be a massive amount of telemetry they can get, I mean this is just network monitoring we're talking about...not the hardest thing to get good metrics and traces on...

It started with the hot fix 2 days after update 81. Had no issues after the update on Wednesday and Thursday, but it's been pretty bad since that Friday. Had quite a bit of locking up last night trying to complete the new saga.

And we were able to raid Saturday on Shadowdale, but we start at 5 EST. Starting at 8 or so may not have worked out.

What makes you think it is network related.

Hello. I have noticed poorer server performance, ESPECIALLY on the airships, since the load in of Update 81. I will ask my team mates if they are experiencing the same and when they say "yes" then I know it is on DDO's end and not due to our systems nor our connections.

Friday is the first time I noticed it as well so you may be on to something that it was the patch rather than the update.

Friday is when things got really bad, but I assumed it was not tied to the hotfix and rather to people actually having the time to hop on and play the new expansion on the weekend.. but it's probably still prudent of them to check if something in the hotfix patch did something naughty.
