Haunred Halls of Eveningstar - Shrapnel in your Eyes

Ran Haunted Halls of Eveningstar last night, and IMMEDIATELY after running into the doppelganger hallway I got hit with the Shrapnel in your Eyes effect. While it would clear up if I left the hallway, it came back if I walked back in and had to fight the doppelganger in the effect (VERY not fun, BTW) before the effect fully cleared.

I don't remember that the last time I ran the adventure. I remember the effect when the doppelganger hid, but I also remember it clearing up pretty quickly. Was this an accidental bug? Something that can be cleared up by Cure Blindness or Immunity to Blindness? Always this way and I just forgot?

It wasn't bugged when the quest was first introduced then this bugged happened and it's always like this. I run it about once per tr (which is on my alts so not that often) but I've seen it every time over the last few years.
