Help! derward wont come!

I am doing the "RESCUE" and the NPC DERWARD keep rubberbsnding back to his room where there is a chest. i told him to stay and told him top come with me. but when i get the the big room before the curved hallway he gets this white circle above his head and teleports back to his original spot.....
is this quest bugged??? if so there is no wy to get the "RATCJATHER" crossbow

Escorts have been extra buggy for a while now. Sometimes he'll fix on his own; sometimes you might need to reset the quest to get him to play nice on the next attempt.

This exact issue is happening to me right now. I submitted a ticket and am waiting in the quest. Derward will follow me North up the stairs, then East through the central square room, then he yellow-circles back to his original location.

I am on server 62 at r1 lx1400 ly16, i2050 cInside ox-129.14 oy182.25 oz-154.95 h267.2.

Searching on the forums I found this thread (the newest) and also this thread from a couple of weeks ago. This seems like it's a common but relatively new problem. It's particularly bad as this quest is a blocker to progressing further in the Threnal adventure pack.
