Heroic TR build? Might be a mess?

Morning,

I've never built a build from scratch but as I've returned to the game I've started to get more into the TR train. I really enjoy the blaster warlock playstyle but also like to be able to handle traps. I'm looking to blow thru some heroic lives to finish up heroic completionist. I know I need to unlock the epic pastlives for skill master and colors of the queen so I didnt include them here, but do you guys think this 2/8/10 split will be ok for past lives? Or are the AoS blasting feats not strong enough to carry the damage? I don't ever do anything over R2. Thanks.

Why are you taking Magical Attunement when you are also taking Utterdark Blast? Wouldn't it be more useful to take Faltering Blast instead of Utterdark?

Why put points into Soul Eater? You're only gaining 8% movement speed from Consume and minor amounts of spellpower, and you already have Chain, so do you really need Cone? You would be better off putting the action points towards getting the Tier 5 abilities from AotS or Tainted Scholar. That way you can get much more effective use of your metamagics with Eldritch Ball or Glare of the Pit.

Any particular reason you're putting points into Jump and Open Lock instead of into Search? You won't be a very effective trapper with so little Search.

x/1+ AotS blasting feats are plenty if you're ok with standard warlock pace, don't tend to rely on tentacles, and are TRing before lack of epic blast feats matters, certainly for R2. The feat tax does keep the blasts up to date as normal.

My Cormyr Ironman character is doing this to nice effect, and it has a lot less in warlock enhancements than you will. (and seconding Wielder's points)

Thanks so much for taking the time to look at my mess. The feedback is super helpful, and will super help me make some changes. I’ll plan for dropping the soul eater stuff, I messed around more with chain today and your right I don’t need cone. I’m not sure which of the T5s would end up feeling better for leveling, but I’ve used ball before and it was pretty nice. If there is a jump scroll or wand I guess i could use that and move the jump points to search as well thanks!

Does it fall off super hard in epics without the epic dice? Or are Epic strike and stuff enough to drag it through?
 
Maybe I’m stretching the idea too thin and I need to either try an an inquis split, I’m just worried about the lack of AoE.

If you could manage to accept losing the Warlock blasts then why not go 8 Arti / 1 Clr / 11 anything else...

1 Clr for nightshield (FvS if you have)

By the time you access BE T5, you'll have 3 AoE ranged abilities which is much fun.

FYI VKF 3rd core = +5% DS
 
The blasts are consistent aoe and make questing pretty easy. I guess if repeater damage kills single targets fast enough the 3 aoes would make things feel pretty smooth as well. Thanks.

That's a lot of dice. You'll definitely be transitioning to active abilities if you go far past 20 intead of TRing.

x/2 aots is way more hold-button-down-and-grind-through-to-20 than arti AOE, which has small radius and needs you to clump things properly instead of chaining to archers/casters. But repeater will surely scale better up high.

Edit: for reference, Strimtom's 18 bard/2 aots makes it epic functional via bard feats, a focus on healing, and exalted angel to fish for procs in between holy fireball/support stuff.

Edit2: For the record, i think the triple arti aoe is very strong and very fun, just saying it's a little less mindless if you want to finger-down and cruise.

The 3 AoE's are very good to say the least, trash is just a joke for the most part.
