Hey Devs, put a -50% XP mod on people who join R1's that have no PL's and no Reaper points. It would make total sense!

Because a level 1 carry with no reaper points and no PLS that cant contribute anything in an R1 aside MAYBE traps if that, is literally being "powerleveled". And when you are being "powerleveled" you aren't buying XP pots and such so its hurting the income of DDO and I think that money would be better spent in helping the dev team fix you know, actual issues.

Why would you not buy XP pots when you are being "powerleveled"? If anything that is the best time to buy XP pots.

Thread done now?

The OP's post is the exact definition of a troll post. Somehow, it wasn't posted by Teh_Troll...

Any case, -1 from me.

because even with what few Reaper Points :
I'm first-lifer and often carry soul-stones of newbies who has many PL ?
I solo R3 at level ?
I disable trap too ? (73 in Disable Device, 56 in Spot , 66 in Search at lvl15) ?
I have 2568 Effective HP with Displacement on as a wizard ?
I drag others at my level in PUG to run quest in R1 at a CR of 5 level above mine ?

I don't know what's YOUR problem with first-lifers, but you'd be kind to not ask for new unfair constraints or penalties over us just because you feel superior.

Where did I say -ANYTHING- about someone soloing R1? This post is about people who are free to play, heck even VIP maybe but having no past lives and no reaper points who contribute little to nothing in R1's. I get you are saying "this R1 first lifer build I made can solo R1's" so those people, if they can solo R1 should not get penalized if they join an LFM for R1. I get that. The problem with this is if someone joins an R1, a new player for instance and THE POWER GAP BETWEEN THAT PLAYER AND THE PEOPLE RUNNING THE LFM IS VERY WIDE AND VERY DEEP (ie. lots of PLs/Reaper Points as opposed to no PL's/Reaper points, again this is about stats and numbers) there should be a -50% exp applied, yes. Because that is EXACTLY the same friggin logic thats applied to people who are only 4 levels below someone elsewhere, and so it should also apply here.
Oh yeah , I forgot that too :
I 'm also pure F2P.

EXACTLY. If someone can contribute in a meaningful way to kills, or damage done, then the exp penalty should be non-existent. This would curb favor farming and piking. There is even a guild on Moonsea called <Pikers Paradise>, and hey if you wanna pike, that cool and all. But if someone cant contribute to a run, then they should be penalized. If someone is too weak to contribute meaningfully in a run, yes they should be penalized. If we are going to apply some dumb game logic to apply to someone who is 4 levels under someone and make it -50% even though they contributed, it isnt fair for a piker to join an R1, get tons of R1 experience and heroic experience and pass loot over to the leader if they are running a bot group. This amounts to a lot of abuse. It amounts to the rampant farming of favor, which hurts SSGs bottom line, and it isnt fair for honest players trying to join groups they are only "very slightly" underlevel for, only to be hit with a -50% exp penalty. That's insane and needs to be balance.
That I could only agree.
The sole problem is how do you measure the accomplishment of a cleric healing a tank who constantly needs it ?

Deliberately obtuse
If a newbie isn't contributing enough in R1 for you then it's a skill issue on your part, I'd have to question why you put a public party up and began the quest because I assume you can't handle R1 without help if this is a big problem for you. If you're "good at DDO" the increase in XP/min from having more party members in R1 is negligible outside of maybe a dozen quests.

If that's not the case then stop being a miserly weirdo. This game is super unfriendly to newbies, giving them a leg up by carrying a bit is fine. If you don't want to do it, don't put public parties up.

That's what I do when I don't want to carry people but I'll tell you what, I'm doing that when I don't want to carry people with plenty of past lives who just pike the moment they realise I can solo it. Maybe there should be going for a quick wank while Paddy solos it XP penalty if we're concerned about contribution.

from what I'm grasping from the OP's threads is they joined a group for r1 ravenloft and couldn't keep up, died and then got really upset that he can't just have a higher leveled player boost him due to the powerlevel penalties so has gone on a one man crusade against grouping entirely.

I am probably one of those dummies that is carried with many past lives under the belt.

And to be honest, with each new release the content gets way harder for the level range it is released at.
So much so that I'm starting to avoid it.
And with me a lot of other players as well, that sweet release of droop is a thing hiding under xp per minute.

Best troll post in ages. R1 really? Put some gear on it and go into R10 and learn the real game.

If you don't want them in your group put no first lifers in your group.

Funny thing, because personally I was thinking about opposite, having party option "no past lives, no reaper tree, no ship buffs, no tomes - just knowledge, player skill and gear".
R1 with overpowered passives is just too easy (aka boring for some) especially when you have whole party of uber characters instead of doing solo.

I can understand if you are talking about higher reaper, but taking R1 in a group is just super easy mode.
If you have uber character, then what is a problem running R1 solo?
What is the difference between going solo and having party of weak characters on R1?
Just handle it like you would go solo if you think others in your party do not contribute on that such "super hard" difficulty.

I was always thinking that uber characters should do higher reaper.
You just want super easy xp for another past life and do not care about other things in the game like social or challenge.

I play since 2010 and prefer reaper difficulty without extra passives (no past lives, no reaper tree, no ship buffs, no tomes), because I like challenge.
I play that way with my friend in private party, we do not want to be carry by anyone and we would be happy to have some new players with us no matter their contribution, but you say that players who prefer challenge should be penalized, right?

Correcting it to 'newbies'. I would not want to be offensive. (and we all went through the grotto at some time)
None taken, I'm just happy that there are players out there willing to carry me through.

I'm notoriously known to agro mobs and cause multiple reapers to spontaneously spawn on my location.

So I will engage in a response in the manner the OP asks, ignoring the fairly obvious insanity of the idea.

If this was the right approach, other MMOs would adopt it. But all the big MMOs (such as they are nowadays) do the reverse - they do everything they can to help newer characters (who may or may not be newer players) catch up fast to the same level as existing players. Because more players contributing is a good thing, and punishing players while they get to that level just reduces the potential future contributors to the long-term detriment of the game.

Then you get the point about XP pots - the idea newer players will spend a fortune on XP pots to keep up is pretty silly. They are much more likely to quit. And we really don't want that at this stage of the game.

Also - my experience of players is the number of past lives someone has is badly correlated with their contribution. I am currently in a TR level up cycle with my main and ran a bunch of the older level 6 quests on R1. My toon is a bit odd-ball this life but proving very survivable at low level - I have a lot of past lives holding that together. Meanwhile a lvl 8 rogue with 400 HP joined for a fair few and ended up dying most quests. They were zerging faster than the party and not backed up with heals. That's not to say the player wasn't contributing or there's anything wrong at all with that playstyle, but my point is that with that much HP they must have had a good number of past lives, and it didn't make them invincible or a god-level slaying machine.

So no, this is a bad idea.

If anything, I'd rather they made it radically (and I mean radicially) easier to gain the first few past lives even though as a one-toon player I will never directly benefit.

I suggest -50% xp for people running R1 quests with lots of reaper points/ past lives as it becomes too easy, a bit like a lvl10 character running a lvl 6 quest. On the other hand, +50% xp for characters running R1 quests with few or no past lives or reaper points as the quest is much harder.
