Hidden nerf to evocation boots since last update?

Don't hold your breath hoping.
Oh, we definitely can get higher DCs at cap now. No question there.

However, caster DPS is still pathetic at end game. (AT excepted) Hopefully, the pass coming sometime later this year will actually make DPS casting viable again.

Its just sliding goal-posts to create the urgent need for casters to re-Tetris. Six months to a year from now, these gains won't mean anything.

I'm so glad i parked my DC caster. Playing melee and range is alot more satisfying when you dont have to assign every single item slot to one particular stat.

I am really hoping that the balance pass, gives casters a chance to play at end game.

LMAO. Every change ever for every type of build could be characterized by this statement. Do you think you have stumbled on something profound? Stats inflate as levels grow... requirements for higher level quests go higher to match. It's not hard...

If all you care about is DC casting, good news... it's not hard to get your DCs high enough to CC and instant kill.

The bad news is that the martial classes don't need any of that to do R10s... there's more than enough DPS to obliterate everything quickly. Heck, even melee can do R10s without support now that they have strength of arms.

You can play on a a DC caster and pretend you are helping with your insta kills racking up some numbers and your pretty blue balls locking mobs down. But then you get to the end boss and you will grind to a standstill if you didn't bring martial DPS with you, lol.

I'd be happy (or at least happier), if I could play a caster and get in on some of that DPS bonanza.

So tired of my time being wasted. At least this wasn't on purpose to sell some kind of road block override like usual I guess.

I TRed my sorc into an arti after the last caster nerf to dps
and honestly, the dps of an arti is only slightly better than a sorc... when the arti is just holding the left mouse button...
its the lack of burst dps for casters that is the real problem
arti gets to redname and hits endless fusilade inexorable advance reaper double shot hunts end the pluck of a string and does +100k a second
and the caster does the same dps that he's been doing the whole quest

This is a really, really good point, and I hope devs read this!

The caster DPS fix could be as simple as:

1. Equalize the high reaper penalty
2. Give casters something like an Arcane Supremacy feat that works off of action boost charges

Honestly, I agree with you; those two things would fix caster DPS at least broadly. There are some individual classes that could then use a boost, but this would help tremendously.

That does sound like a good plan - except it should probably not be another feat as casters are already plenty feat taxed.

Yeah, I agree; the odds of them going in every caster tree, though, are basically zero to add something.

They could put it in Draconic, but then every nuker would have to use that tree, idk.

Maybe just change wellspring?

it would need to be something like, gain 1000 universal spell power, +100% crit damage and uncap caster level for 1 minute

I did the same...sorc became an arti. I disagree with your assessment that the arti is only slightly better than sorc. The arti about twice as good on rednames in R10. My typical DPS benchmark is the time to kill the endboss in Back to Basics on R10 (there may be better test spots, but this is convenient and soloable easily on R10). I had a fully kitted cold sorc, and it took twice as long to beat down that horse when compared to the arti. (It is mildly faster to get to the endboss with sorc due to instakills, but it is pretty quick and easy on the ranged arty as well, so the total quest completion time is heavily in favor of the artificer).

Now if you are referring to low reaper (or normal slayer tests like Experiment Y), then sure, the sorc has decent dps compared to Arty.

Also...sorc does have a few short term buffs he can use when getting to the end boss, so not sure why you would be doing the same damage as during the quest? Wellspring, Regalia come to mind right away.

I am going to completely disagree with this. i played on my caster for most of this year, trying to get the best gear to increase my DC's. I am currently at 93 (i know other casual caster players running alot lower DC's than this, as they havent managed to acquire the required gear that i have) and pretty much every monster makes their saves. Even in the wilderness (not new expansion) they are making their saves (which is crazy. as wilderness areas are considered to be at normal level). How can monsters in normal difficulty content be making their saves against a 93 DC spell.

The best way to play casters at the moment (at least for casual players like me) is to grab healing spells from the destiny trees and stay at the back and heal the rest of the party.

My range toon doesnt have half the named items my DC caster has and can easily kill the same monsters in a matter of seconds before they get anywhere close to me (i have my draw distance at maximum). Not only that, but my range doesnt expend any type of resources when attacking.
My caster on the other hand pretty much runs out of SP all of the time.

At the moment, Range is the best gamestyle to play. I am hoping the balance pass addresses this issue. At end game content about 80% if not more players i pug with are running ranged builds.

I definitely do not want them to nerf range as the monsters have that much hp any nerfs would hurt that playstyle. They need to bring casters and melee up to the same level as Ranged. Heck i'd even go as far to say, melee should be dealing the most DPS. As they are in the most danger.

Sad, isn't it?

They made +13/6 DC spell focus <speciality-> in the new expansion. Maybe the idea is to buy? But at what cost?

Torkz you apprently did not read or understand the post you quoted. He said without fusilage, which being the key differentiator.

The good news is it's not as difficult to boost DCs as it used to be. We have multiple int +2 filigrees (if you don't mind farming some raids), the u81 gear has some good DC items, and we got a small boost to DCs from feats. Are these DCs at cap play or lower level? Are you using level 30 gear? Do you have a 9-10 slot sentient gem and a 5 slot artifact?
