Housing...

Dear all
In essence, you could have a door in any of the public zones that leads you to a separate locale.

So, House Jorasco has a doorway that leads into Jorasco Heights, a number of residential houses... Myth Drannor has another doorway, into the "Elven Skylight". Acquire a residential property with 8 hook points, and 2 storage chests that overlook the ancient areas..

And so on. The places to build are technically limitless, just depends on the decorative viewpoint inc expansion access (if necessary).
I read this post and I found it interesting to setup a suggestion around it.
At different city areas the should introduce housing.

I won't describe the housing areas, but I would like to suggest a few easy suggestions for the houses.

A) houses should be bought like airships. Different prices gets you different size of houses with different services.
1) all houses have inside a rest shrine.
2) all houses have inside a closet (storage space) exclusive for cosmetics
3) all houses when you exit give you the option to go to the airship (either through their normal door or another point, I was thinking RL like teleport)
Based on your buy (pp or astral) a few more services could be added to a house.
1) an amenity hook that allows N servant contracts (like the hooks at the cargo of the airship). Servants can be from farshifters to battlers (bar keeper like), scholar, trainer, etc..., we can start with the cargo ones and introduce new different exclusive for housing. Trainers are a good concept for something exclusive.
2) an amenity hook for a lab (again similar with airship) you could have your own lab in the house. (Cannith crafting, trapping, shroud, etc maybe better to introduce some machines that are not available in the airship)
3) trophy room, convert items you collect while questing to trophies. The item becomes cosmetic and is displayed framed on the walls of the trophy room. Any named item from a quest can be converted to a trophy. The frame should mention the name of the item and if possible the quest where you got it.

Clearly it can be from a simple to a vastly complex idea.
And of course for us to get in the grind, a new form of renown should be introduced to activate us pp houses. A similar mechanism like airships.

One last suggestion: when you log off for some time, the toon is transferred to their house.

That should improve also airship load.

Cheers

I guess if whales want this and will pay whale prices, fine. But I don’t see value beyond more storage and you could just buy another guild ship for that.

Well, housing is always popular in MMOs and especially in DDO, it would be nice to have something to break up the TR train and give players something to do and something to spend platinum on.
As suggested, I also think this would be a perfect opportunity to implement a wardrobe to store cosmetics, which players wanted for a very long time.
If properly implemented, they could offer special housing amenities as saga rewards, and it´s also an opportunity to sell new cosmetic items like styles for your house.
But I guess, to properly do it takes a lot of effort, so it won´t be done.

Yes, I like this. I want this. Ultima Online and LOTRO and others have made this something I feel so many games should just adopt.

Why not just have a bed that you can click on to get the same benefits? Make it a home.

A wardrobe for cosmetics would be nice!

Perhaps just have a way to enter your home both from airships and teleports? Or maybe have an option at login like the Teleport to Eb/FR button.

I think we should avoid having npcs and vendors--focus more on decoration and perhaps social interactions when you have friends over.

Maybe you can have a limited amount of added on rooms to your house, but can only select x/y of them to build. That way you can have a crafting room if you want one.
3) trophy room, convert items you collect while questing to trophies. The item becomes cosmetic and is displayed framed on the walls of the trophy room. Any named item from a quest can be converted to a trophy. The frame should mention the name of the item and if possible the quest where you got it.
We can have specific loot converted into hunter style trophies and you can have the head of Ghoula-Fan hanging in your kitchen.

I'm all favor for the housing system, but... don't need to be convoluted. Just a private instance only the owner and invitees can teleport to... like a pocket or portable hole dimension. Used only to decoration and storage - end of TR Cache.

and storage - end of TR Cache.
The fact that they put an NPC there who will open a regular bank will not remove TR Cache. 😏

And if they make a separate storage that will allow them to get rid of TR Cache, it is not at all necessary to make player housing to access it.

The players' housing and storage are two separate entities that can exist independently of each other. 😆

PS. SWtoR has one of the best players' housing system, IMHO. 🥰

I think one hook for a trainer and one hook for a butler would be the most appropriate.
We could also have entertainers for our guests.
Singers, dancers, etc... no effect just to make an ambient atmosphere.
The Butler brings food/drinks (could be the bartender) just renamed and with different avatar. No need to be a vendor, we just need something that enables the emotions of drinking and eating. 😅 Not the effects...
The trainer, is the only that is actually providing functionality.

They could do it too, where they sell in the DDO Store, an elixir. Every single type of creature you kill within a turn of <X> minutes produces a small effigy that would go into the green bag and are BTC. This effigy can be then placed in a trophy section, in a deployable static pose (some people like to see taxidermied, or heads on wall, etc). Each one can be replaced for plat (similar to cargo hold deployables).

Seems like a lot of effort for zero content.
It is however very easy to monetize though.
We'll see when they get even more desperate for revenue.
