How are Alchemists at the moment?

My favorite character I ever built was my leveling fire alchemist back when they were awesome sauce. I was thinking of doing some alch lives on an alt, Can they still level heroics fast?

The first five levels or so are a little slow, but once they get some AoE's they demolished heroic amd even epic all the way to 30.

they're great, just rush apothocary tree for inflict serious sla and use inflict pots heavily the first few levels. If you do that even the first levels are smooth as butter. Outside of that you're great through low-mid reapers the entire game. Just like other casters though they have a hard time in current end game r10 type of content/grouping.

They are one of the best leveling classes. At end game they arguably have the highest ceiling, but it's much harder to pull off without a lot of character investment compared to a sorc.

Alchemists have incredible levelling, but worse spell damage than Sorcs or Druids in epics.

(Inflict Serious SLA from Bombardier Core 3 is 1d6+6/cl damage to everything in an area, and between that and Inflict Critical Admixture at level 9 (d6+10/cl), you'll be able to kill basically anything that isn't undead or a construct really easily, at least long enough to grab Multivial at 12)

Assuming you don't just swap full time to elemental at 9, of course. You finally get real AOEs by that level.

Zero Degree Comet not scaling with Conjuration really sucks, and they really want Moon Lance over Dragon Breath.

At cap in higher level content, they can nosave apply -5 prr, and if they actually care enough to apply them, they can apply an additional -5 prr and -5 mrr. These debuffs stack with everything, and if you consider the 5-11 people you increase the damage of, the increases are huge.

However, their spell rotation for Orange Alch is just... Multivial, Multivial SLA, Epic Strike, Zero Degree Comet. Their spells all have terrible damage numbers and poor MCL (21 on Multivial at 20 from the single, non-stacking Greater Pyrite Studies). Even with Burning Ambition helping out, d6+4 isn't going to win any prizes, plus the alchemist 6th level spells all suck.

(Green Alch is a silly meme and is while it can function, the lack of decent Yellow spells in the 6th level Alch list is a lethal mistake.)
