How many ingredients will I need?

This is a challenge for all you math wizards out there. I want to make 56 Viktranium Experiment crafted items.
36 with Melancholic and Dolorous slots only.
12 with M, D and Miserable slots.
8 with M, D, Mis, and Woeful slots.
How many total ingredients will I need of each type?

Too many, way too many; enough to make a full time mat farmer cry.

At 56 Melancholic Slots (25 of each of the 4 basic ingredient), 56 Dolorous Slots (50 of each of the 4 basic ingredient), 20 Miserable Slots (25 of each of the 4 basic ingredient and 100 Wires), along with 8 Woeful Slots (50 of each of the 4 basic ingredient and 50 Transistors) that would be:

• 5100 Alternators
• 5100 Conductors
• 5100 Insulators
• 5100 Resistors
• 2000 Wires
• 400 Transformers

Expect to need to do the following to harvest that all up:

• About 94 Saga runs
• About 90 laps around the Wilderness for Wires
• Slay the Purple-named Wilderness things or run Relentless ~30 to 75 times for Transformers

Probably looking at 160 or more hours collecting ingredients to fill all those Viktranium slots.

I burned out gearing two characters with mostly Chill gear. While the flexibility is awesome, grinding for mats (running a saga with all opts) gets old fast.

I'm pretty sure that by the time you finish that awful grind, assuming you don't burn out doing it, the next xpack will be out and a good chunk of that newly-made gear will no longer be BiS.
But you do you, I guess.

Thank you all for the info. I have seven at cap; 5 with over 100 reincarnations, one with 30 and one with 15. All are at cap now working on reaper xp, but my gear is dated lots of Saltmarsh, a little Dread, misc (mindflayer etc), very little Vecna and only a couple of items from MD. I don’t usually farm, but I decided to update my gear finally with Lamordia. So I basically moved in to Lamordia on November 1 and I have been grinding it hard on three servers since then. I am going to craft everything once I can get all seven on the same server. So far I have:
3214 Conductors
3201 Resistors
3294 Insulators
3252 Alternators
3680 Wires
967 Transformers
266 Mementos
5026 Renlentless Runes

Any advice or tips appreciated.

You also run the risk of the next expansion coming with a level increase and a whole other crafting system that could displace a bunch of Lamordia gear.

But if you feel it’s worth it, by all means.

I could see doing that kind of farming for level 8, but with the level cap increase and a new expansion in about 8 months, it seems like a total waste to do all that work for cap.

But then, I don't bother with anything above level 30, because I'm waiting for the new "final" max level of 40 before I bother accumulating new gear.

I only judge new expansions based on their heroic items, because those are the only ones that interest me.
