How to actually use +1 lesser heart of wood to change iconic starting class but be same race?

So I just got a +1 lesser heart of wood, thought maybe it'd be simple but doesn't look like it.
Where do you make the choice to change starting class? In the character creator there didn't seem to be an option, and after I revelled myself back to 17 I still wasn't offered to change?

When I was speaking to the trainer in that cosmic plane, the only option I had was "my starting adventure was a rogue..." and wasn't allowed to pick anything else.

you can actually change the class at any point, either at character creation stage or later on. You really just have to select the different class. If you are at the cosmic plane trainer when wit says "i was on a path..." there should be (in red?) written how many times you can still change classes. if that was not there then you might have changed it accidentlly at some point before.

The mistake you have made is to select the iconic race when you recreate the character when you start the reincarnation process. Selecting the iconic race there seems logical, but it locks in the default class at level 1.

What you have to do is not select iconic character, but the class you want at lvl 1.
