I looked it up on the wiki, but it seems like other than running the quest to make the timer pop-up in your chat box, there's no way to check the timer. Anyone know if it's possible to check without entering?

You talking raid timers or chest? The slash command is for raids.
For chests, turn on 'detailed chest information' in settings, then you'll see that info when you open the chest in the loot channel of chat (there's no way to check that externally, so keeping a note somewhere with when things come off timer is a good option).

Isn't that /quest for timers, raid or saga ?
