I Built My Dragon Disciple Monk Wrong… So You Don’t Have To

Dragon Disciple Monk! I built mine as a fighter-spellcaster hybrid, thinking I'd get the best of both worlds—monk fighting and sorc like spellcasting—but what I found was surprising. In heroics, the spellcasting is pretty strong, but once you hit lvl 10 it gets a lot harder, mobs start resisting your DCs and then in epics it falls off until legendaries, it dies HARD. Why? Because caster DCs become a barrier to winning - even in very good gear, unless you really power farm perfect gear for a x3 completionist to and build this DD like a sorc with min-max'd caster stats. If you're thinking about making a Dragon Disciple Monk, watch this first so you don’t make the same mistakes I did!

Your build works fine in heroics, which is great because no one I know is bothering to get past 20 on DD. They want the PL so they can run a real caster later.

Props to anyone who can make this work as intended and do at least average dps. With as intended I mean dont run it as 8/8/6 inquisitive or something.

Your second video shows better how horrible this really is.

I'll see for myself on this 1Wiz/1Ftr/18 DDM Deep Gnome build (my main with 3x Heroic, Racial, Epic, Iconic and almost 3x all archetypes, just missing 3x Stormsinger and one more DDM after this one)
1 EK for Eldritch Strike
4 Kensai Haste Boost
11 FI
18 Deep Gnome for Caster support stuff and cores
36 DDM tree
Balance in Shintao for Healing Hands, Cores, Wisdom
3xSWF, Dodge, Mobility, Spring Attack, Max, Emp, Quicken, SF Conj, SF Evo, PL Wiz.

@ 1Wiz/1Ftr/13DDM right now.

Will wing it after 20. Try and maximize my DCs as much as possible.

Primal Avatar Mantle, Fury of the Wild QQ and Draconic for DCs

I built mine just right.... for what I wanted out of it, anyway.

First life: Deep gnome 1 wizard/9 arti/10 DD. Inquisitive. Pewpewpewpewpew. Not much to say more than that, really. DD helps with a few more feats, so you end up with a nice amount of feats to front load damage even more.

Second and third life: Got bored, so did/doing (starting third life now) shadar-kai 6 rogue/6 dragon lord/8 DD. Two chains + WWA + zooooooom (jaunt+spring attack+flight of kings+ three charges of chaosmancer + lots of tumble). The aoe damage is insane while levelling, and with so much movement enhancing stuff, you can actually get to most of the mobs before the pewpews have them (all, anyway) killed. Much fun to be had. I'm even centered, so can buff a little with DD spells, and use monk air stance.

So, yes. Using iconics to skip annoying low levels, and not really using anything from DD. But hey, I get the PLs easy-style.
