I miss hardcore

Honestly, after playing this game since it's inception, I basically only play HC with a friend of mine as it's something we have really enjoyed...it's amazing to me to go a complete year without it, especially due in fact I know people will spend a little more on the game during that time period, at least I do...?‍♂️

So group with better people. There are HC guilds out there on live...maybe try one of them?
Hi there, unfortunately i live in the EU, so grouping options are already limited. The Guilds i have contacted don't play at the same time as myself.
I think the biggest problem with live is the power creep, This is the main reason i decided live wasnt for me. I love to play in a group, but when a multiple TR joins your group and practically completes the quest while you run in his wake, its not really any fun. I gave live a decent shot after the last Hardcore ended, but i realized that live just isnt for me. I am quite happy to wait until the next hardcore season comes round again.

True permadeathers dont keep playing their toons when they die.
Exactly this, i believe i would have deleted my toon even if i was intentionally killed by another player. I just don't think its feasible to run a permadeath toon with players who are not running that game style.

some vets say HC makes lag. dunno what they base it on but it persists.

Initially some of us thought that the HCL server was treated favorably in the load-balancing process. This was due to the HC server being relatively lag-free and many of the other servers seeing unexplained lag despite lower active population.

Since the exodus to Orien and the lag problems that created on Orien the situation has been much less clear. I'd say the odds that DDO is being actively load-balanced at this point are probably 50/50.

I recall last year there were so many complaints about lag, bugs etc that I'm willing to bet SSG decided to dedicate the entirety of this year to creating a smoother experience so they can get a bigger gaming audience on HC for 2025.

HC must be a BIG financial winner for SSG and they need to focus on creating a smooth operating experience for gamers

Been experiencing crazy lag now that I have Verizon 5G.. wonder if Fios will help.. much as they are a pita, I prefer wired. (Xfinity/Spectrum)

MS Edge has been acting v.badly now that I have Verizon (WiFi) n since I can't disable it I deleted the exe. it Crashed the game n before it update the wifi?? but was running when I did not run it. (Edge is not my browser but it 'pops up' n now it's being v.bad)

I don't think the ISP is likely to be the problem. Much more likely to be something internal to whatever network the servers are housed on.

I should also add I did a run around marketplace and kundarak on orien last night and I was super-impressed by the smoothness of the experience. Only two weeks ago graphics were being composed upto 1 minute after arriving at a location (eg the trader location in House K) and it was irritating.

I miss it too. Not buying the new expansion until news is released about their plans for hardcore. It's really the only reason I play DDO anymore.

I'm currently working with Kozybean
on an Unofficial Hard Core League 2024 to be happening on Wayfinder server for July 1st - July 30th. We are brainstorming the rules and everything right now, so I guess, stay tuned. We spent a few hours tonight during her livestream just spitballing ideas with her chat (so go and watch her past streams to see more details). But this is an idea I came up with less than 48 hours ago, and I think it is very doable for the DDO community to come together and make our own Hard Core season since SSG isn't offering one any time soon.
