I paid for a year of subscription. Had no idea about a VIP NPC. SSG wont give me the 2 months of rewards I missed.

This happen to anyone else? I've contacted Customer Support twice about it. First what they told me about my problem was basically "Too bad.". Next they told me if I contact CS again they will ban me from using it.

Like... ***? I've been a customer since beta. There was zero information about requiring to talk to an NPC when I subscribed for a year. So, I missed my first two months of VIP rewards. I recently subscribed for another year. Even though I feel I'm being mistreated. I let my subs run for months or years sometimes just because I love the game. This kind of treatment is unacceptable to me.

Anyone have a similar experience? Was it ever resolved? I know life's not fair and this is no great heartache but at the same time. I've given this game thousands of dollars. I should be able to get some help on a system that is clearly flawed and badly communicated.

Yep, the system of having to talk to an NPC or miss out forever rather than it being a thing that just automatically delivered is carefully designed to make the most loyal customers angry. Why that was the design goal we may never know.
I think the idea was it should be an incentive to log in frequently, like daily dice. But I agree that it shouldn't have been done like it was with no way to catch up if RL makes it hard to log in for a while.

Missing out because work is too busy, because another round of chemo has made you too sick, or because you're deployed overseas is unacceptable IMO. But unfortunately this is emblematic of SSG's crummy attitude towards the people paying their bills.

While I believe the implementation is less than optimal, there is widely available information on the VIP Loyalty Rewards Program outlining what must be done to claim the rewards.

The first time you log in for the month on a toon you'll get the announcement, then the badge will appear where your action point, level up, and announcement badges are, and it remains there until you claim a reward. There's the VIP Loyalty Program tab in the menu, including a link for "More about VIP".

There have been announcements on DDO.com (YEAR 1 / YEAR 2), Facebook (YEAR 1 / YEAR 2), Twitter/X (YEAR 1 / YEAR 2), the Forums (YEAR 1 / YEAR 2 / UPDATE 73.2 PATCH RELEASE NOTES), announcement links in the launcher, and links in the Discord. Cordovan also routinely talks about claiming the rewards on Fridays at Four livestreams on Twitch that are also catalogued as VoDs on YouTube.

I'm not one to defend how SSG implements things, but again, the information is out there, all you have to do is look.

Which is stupid. Why look outside of the game?

If you pay for something just give it.

Or make the indicator 10 times as big and flashing so you know what it is.

Yeah, this is totally unacceptable IMO. The concept is to reward people for being VIP, not discourage them.
There should definitely be a way to claim prior rewards that you earned via the subscription but didn't claim on schedule.

Like I've mentioned a bunch of times, SSG's vip plan seems to be a really bad attempt at a battlepass. Games with a BP want you to log in every day and complete a few short missions/quests. They churn out a ton of cosmetics and sprinkle them throughout ~6 week-long seasons. They want the rewards to be juuuust good enough to keep people playing daily, and the daily requirements to be juuuust annoying enough to keep you coming back.

SSG doesn't realize that most DDO players that are going to vip, just vip and keep it up. I think the number of players who vip a month here and there is very rare, and more of a $$ issue. Plus, the monthly rewards are, for the most part, meh.

There is nothing to resolve. That is WAI as they decided to implement it despite huge threads with more/better suggestions.

The system is very poor. Indeed, they should give people what they paid for without having to speak to any NPC. And on top of that, the NPC is hidden in the most remote corner of the Hall of Heroes. If direct interaction is necessary, it should be through the VIPLP menu in any public area.

Bingo!

Whoever is responsible doesn't care.
Been that way for years.

Why do you think so many bad decisions are made by SSG on regular?

Why so many bugs go live?

They don't care.

They're here to collect their paycheck while putting in as little effort as possible.

As soon as you make peace with that fact, sooner you'll stop spewing toxicity here in vain effort to make them care.

It's pointless.
