If I am understanding Fridays at Four Correctly we might not see a fix to Cannith Crafting before level 40

CC level cap will remain at level 32 and may not be addressed until the level cap is 40.

SSG isn't aware of any racial abilities broke by the level cap going to 34. I guess it hasn't been brought up enough.

lol wut

Hire back Tonquin already.

No, that isn't the intent of what I was saying, sorry if that is how it came across. We intend to update Cannith Crafting in the future, time and level cap at the time to be determined. The intention of the statement was supposed to be that we don't intend to update Cannith Crafting generally in sync with a level cap increase.

Wouldn't expect to ever have CC be above the latest and greatest loot they're selling. At BEST it'll be equal level, so when we start seeing named loot at level 34, maybe they'll get around to it...but quite possibly not.

CC is a FREE system so it'll always be behind in some way just so they protect their bottom line.

Realism and truth. Can't blame SSG for wanting to earn a buck so they can feed their families too.

Yep. But they can't exactly say that, as it doesn't really look good to at least temporarily discontinue a system that a lot of people are very invested in, in order to make more money and make the paid content more enticing. So it has to be "we're prioritizing other things" or "there were technical challenges" etc etc.

It is what it is. I don't envy those in public relations.

Ah yeah that's one that has proven difficult to correct sadly.
This particular statement I find impossible to believe. Even if you've hand-coded each spell completely separately and wildly differently, there are only a couple racials with this bug and it's a 5m fix per code path.

For a quick hack, cap all durations @ L33 and voila, it works for all spells now and for future level increases regardless of how the calculation is being done because we know it works for L33. It still gets the duration wrong, but a 33m duration is a tolerable bug. A 0s duration is not.

The hack amounts to "if 33 < level then level = 33". That y'all think this is hard means there's something VERY weird in your code. There's a solution for that, too.

When you have a known simple function, you don't need to know how ugly indecipherable code works to fix it because you know how it SHOULD work. If a prior dev did something cruel and unusual, it's OK to heal it by completely removing the Frankenstein monstrosity and putting nice simple code in it's place.

Ideally, take an extra 60m. Make the code better every time you touch it. Your job gets easier and easier. Our play has fewer and fewer bugs. Big win.

Cannith crafting fix is probably on the same maybe fix someday list as Mithril.

How about when you do update it if you just go ahead and make crafting all the way to level 40 available. That way it is already in place and people won't be able to use the gear until you make those levels available anyway.

No. Please tell me this wasn't said. Magic Fang has been broken for almost a year now. Come off it SSG! 🤬

Thanks for the response and the racial ability broke is shifter magic fang. It doesn't work if a character takes level 34.
Any SLA or spell(?) that is Caster Level 40+ generally has this problem.
If I remember correctly, the Druid past Life feat that gives Flame Blade also stops working around this Caster Level too. Will have to double check if this is still the case however.

Crafting levels will remain 2 levels behind the current cap to keep it from competing with chest rerolls.

Very likely more than 2 levels once the level cap goes to 36. There is no indication SSG plans to update this and on the stream he clearly said he wasn't sure if it would be updated before the level cap was 40.

Like the original statement that cc might be updated in U71 or U72 it just seems SSG is feeling out the community to see if there will be pushback on abandoning cannith crafting and there hasn't really been much so they keep lowering expectations on it.
