IoD Wilderness farming

hi there!

what minimum level can i bring into the iod legendary wilderness area to farm me some of those rares (excluding the purple ones of course)?
i play solo on wayfinder (yeah yeah, i know, you know, we all know) and only have one char on level 32 (pure unapologetic lazyness. and time constraints), with the next highest beeing 21 or 23. i think.
my 32 decided to get some gear upgrades, as i am wearing to this day mostly random pooploots, with the bulk of them not even beeing above level 20. dont ask how i got to 32 in the first place. i managet to ransack almost all the iod wilderness rare chests and got 2 helmets (the same one) and one minor artifact.

how safe would it be to get into there with some lower level chars, like the aforementioned 21 or 23 one? reason beeing, i do want to play some of those higher level quests and get me some better gear, but even legendary sharn, while not deadly, managed to kick my sorry lazy behind a few times, and needless to say, i didnt get any viable loot so far. but the iod rares seem to drop some decent stuff that i could use before going for reasonable quest grinds.

thanks for your time and snarky comments in advance!

It might depend upon the build, and how much dps you kick out, but you might as well give it a shot with your epic characters. I have not found the wilderness very deadly but I also have not yet taken a level 23 character out there. I think that dps is more important than resiliance, kill the named monsters fast and you will have lots of time to recover. Bring a hireling healbot and I think you should be fine. It is pretty easy to run away making the danger very low. At the very east you will accumulate dino ingredients for crafting, great augments, and duplicates of gear to feed to your sentient items. Once more into the breach... er, wilderness.

If you bring a renewable source of invisibility, you can pick your fights without any risk of triggering an alert.

Level 20ish hires are rather frail in level 30+ areas. If you have any means to bolster their defenses, it helps. At level 23, there is an enhancement in Primal that makes hires much more sturdy. Once you reach level 25, Garret should handle stuff okay without assistance.

Level 20ish spell casters may have trouble landing spells and doing enough damage.

A melee or ranged character with a decent weapon should do okay. My avatar with her level 20 Gold Cursed Dagger (5 piece Dreadbringer) had no issues killing all the red named rares.

When fighting the triceratops Treeleveler, do not stand in front of him when he breaths.

When fighting the weirdo psionic thing, do not get hit by the golf balls and bring lesser restoration potions.

For the mummy, have remove disease and remove curse wands. You will need them for your hire.

When fighting the bear, try to clear out the griffons. They hit pretty hard and will swarm you.

I go in there at around level 23. The wilderness zones are all just normal difficulty. However that also means the drop rates for named items are terrible. Best thing you can farm there reliably is dinosaur bones to craft a nice weapon or artifact.

all right thanks all, i went in with my 23 cleric (now 24) after trying barovia (31) and saltmarsh and with all of my permanent hires that i could summon (both level 18 panther/lioness, the 15 shield guardian, the 15 & 23 owlbear whistle) and it was surprisingly not thaaaaaaat bad.
the cleric had some mana issues, as i had to pump out the damage and keep the hires alive, but it was usually enough for one rare-route. stonejaw saw the level 15 hire once as i did not go around him far enough, that dino was following me ruthlessly and didnt want to let go, and finally killed me when i was roughly at the road towards the water snek. someone put that thing on a leash!

i honestly never tried going into the legendary explorer zones with some of my lower chars. guess playing lotro has made me a little shy of actually trying things out in ddo even if the difficulty "seems" harder then it actually is. go figure.
