Is Cormyr like HC

I'm seeing obituary messages appearing on Cormyr so...do you only get one life for each character? and if so...how is that different to HC?

This is connected to the Lanterns in the Mist event - those death messages only show up if a character holding a Skull Lantern dies, in which case their lantern is destroyed and they have to restart with a new one. The actual character is unaffected and can continue playing the game as normal.

There are "Skulled" variants to the event lanterns which work somewhat like Hardcore.
You have to pick those lanterns up when level 1 and they are destroyed if you die, essentially forcing you to start them over, but you get to keep your character so you can just try again after TR and don't have to refarm any gear and w/e.

It's baby core.

There's two sets of cosmetic rewards, gained by filling a meter on a lantern, from killing mist spawns, that you need to have equipped in cosmetic shield slot.

They're both the same reward tracks, except the skull lanterns have a tiny skull motif. Skull lanterns get destroyed if you die, but your character remains usable you can just go pick up more of them to start the farming again.

Apart from the death messages, there is nothing hardcore about.

I haven't tried that lantern stuff but SSG...I cannot congratulate you enough. Cormyr is magnificent.

Playing in a group through multiple lowlevel R1 quests..this really had a sense of 2020 again (y) :)

I know it is totally amazing as far as lag goes, now if they can just open a 64 bit server for all end game push raiders with completionists to transfer too, everyone will be happy.

The devs have already said there will be no transfers in or out of cormyr so we will not have the lag from all the calculations involved with maxed out munchkinized gear and past life add ons on this server.

Cromyr Lantern event is like ... HCL training wheels: don't hurt anyone's feels, don't worry you can't lose your character even if you REALLY do deserve to lose them kinda months long disappointment.

I'm not dong the lantern event (its an optional event on Cormyr). however I understand if the character dies it can;t be progressed which means it effectively becomes a mule.

That is a completely superior solution to HC and more processor intensive. I'm guessing the devs want to really push cormyr to the limits interms of memory usage to ensure all sources of lag are eliminated

Really, well we certainly were howling with our crew when we watched KNU backwards dying in cormyr almost as many times as Babygirls dies in regular hardcore.

Pure laughing moments for the whole crew.

Dying has zero negative effects on Cormyr if doing the event (unless you're doing skull lanterns and even then, one can keep leveling, TR, and grab them fresh when back at level 1 on the same character). Not a running a non-skull lantern is basically just ignoring free easy cosmetics. Grab one (regardless of your current level) and enjoy the goodies; the mount is nice.

People that are smart and efficient will just finish all their lanterns off at level 25, no need to go any higher of TR.

After playing multiple group quests on Cormyr I'm starting to get a sense of "bully v bullied" when comparing Cormyr and Orien.

Orien definitely struggles in all areas whereas playing any reaper on Cormyr and you know you're going to experience fun and games.
I'm wondering whether some of the 32-bit servers are "past their shelf-life" and need newer, less processor intensive homes
