They know it. They're asking if having a Deathblock Augment is worth putting the expense into, so they don't have to keep finding gear with Deathblock. They can just unslot the augment and move it between gear sets.

I am not sure how you know they want to unslot Deathblock and move it between gearsets, but you are living up to your name for sure :), as a Jewelllers kit to do so would cost circa 50% more than just buying a new Deathblock for each item you wanted to slot it in...

If you are consistent about doing your daily silver rolls, jeweler's toolkits are entirely free. I have dozens and never bought a single one.

It's always cheaper to buy another deathblock than to reslot it.

95.0 DP per Deathblock
99.5 DP per Kit (995 per 10)

It's not a 50% difference unless you waste DP buying kits 1x1. They're almost the same cost. But, it's still ALWAYS cheaper to buy a new DB than reslot.

BTW, gear v aug is the same. Deathward will also protect from negative dot tick damage. Lifesealed adds %absorb for negative. Spells as source can be dispelled when you need it the most; eg. beholders. So, I count deathward as useless.

IMHO, DB is mandatory everywhere, but it's mostly just a matter of taste outside hardcore. You can do an entire life without it and then die over and over next life. If you're OK with random low-chance instant death now and then, there's no point.

Or fail saves versus a violet beam 3 times in row in the same quest :)
That taught me a lesson.

If you keep up deathward with clickies you don't need to worry.
If you don't have those clickies, getting a deathblock item is a good investment.

I always carry around the necropolis necklace. Deathblock and it absorbs 10 level drains. Useful swappy against beholders.

If you can fit it in, 12 points into ShadowDancer to get Shadowcaster(/striker) makes you immune to energy drain, I usually try if I'm not on a caster. But that doesn't help a lower levels :)

I'm pretty sure that's only drain immunity and does not also confer deathblock (immune to instant-kill).
