Is Reaper Mode going to kill the Game?

I'm an ex-DM for tabletop D&D. The way I see this as well as 'builds' is that they encourage people to build characters that are as invincible as they can make them. I don't allow this in my table-top games. Gaming should have a fair amount of challenge, and player characters should not be demi-gods. Honestly, I hate the idea of having to use a 'build' to have a survivable character - where's the creativity in that? Just rip off someone else's character template instead of building your own character by doing what you think is best. It's like looking at someone else's homework and copying it.
i always thought DDO never really deserved the dungeons and dragons label for that reason. Reaper shows how wacky the balance is with 'builds'. Elite and Reaper should rely more on character equipment and how familiar the player is with the enemies and environment, than the number of skill points and feats you can stack. Of course, some will be more powerful....but the current system makes some class and playstyles not an option> specially in reaper.

If they had made maximum favor possible by running normal 3 times, casual 6 times, or normal once and hard once, I would totally agree. Unfortunately, they refused to budge on that issue, so the only solution was to make elite easy enough anyone could do it.
I CAN'T WIN A SUPERBOWL RING! THE WORLD IS UNFAIR!

That line of thinking makes me sad for the human race.

I can't play in the NBA! Basketball is too hard! Lower the hoops to 8 feet!
My comment was in response to someone stating the game being soloable. Not sure what you are talking about but it’s definitely not what I’m talking about. Troll away

lol, I think this thread or several threads like it have existed since Reapers was introduced. I don't
see developers expanding any programmer work hours needed to remove Reapers.

11 pages later and now you're saying reaper is too easy...
2nd sentence of 1st Post in the thread: "It is easier than Casual mode for the vast majority of reaper point farmers" for XP/min

I was referring to low level Reapers, which is on me for not being more specific. Reading IS Fundamental.

SSG has gotta be sweating the costs of such high intensity players milking thousands of points of favor in a few days or they would have Frogo in the DDO store. They simply do not make enough off VIP players with so many opportunities for Free DDO points or they would have alot more appealing ways to hand them money.

Let me see if I understood your concern...
Are you refering to the 25DDO points that is awarded for every 100 Favor? Is it that the "so many opportunities for Free DDO points" you mean?

If so... what it has to do with Reaper being too easy or too hard?
It's much easier to crank out the 250 DDO points for every 1000 favor with R1s. 1st 2K or 3K favor aren't particularly challenging to an experienced player and can be done several times in a month without paying for hearts of woods. Big revenue loss for SSG on every heavily used VIP account. Most VIP players don't even consider the free DDO points to be an important perk give anyone that owns the content can get that favor/ddo points as well

But... it can be done with Elites as well, right?

Why would they bother with Elites when reaper points give the "challenge mode" so many more advantages? Biggest downside to R1 is not being to reenter the dungeon, if you have sufficient reaper points(>10)

Why does the challenge mode give you the opportunity for more saves, HP, SP and free SP and give you the same favor? You should have to run r4 or higher to get favor. It's a formula for genuinely awful lfm experiences in the current state.

Lower levels of reaper should help new players get reaper points faster if they want to lower the gap between new players and experienced ones. The opportunity cost of not giving favor would more than offset the extra RXP. Or vice versa the greater challenge of higher difficulty reapers would justify the one and done aspect of grinding favor with reaper enhancements.

Shhhh, it's not like people hit 5k on HC on 1st lifers in RNG gear on elites each season. Oh wait...

Because that statement isn't ture. R1 has all sorts of downsides. The >10 (or whatever number people pull out of hat) doesn't mean a thing. People excel at reaper because they build well, gear well, know the quests, etc. etc. There's no magic reaper point number that suddenly makes reaper easy for everyone. The same players melt thru elites too and at faster speeds since elite is easier.

Oh woof. I am saved from your infinite wisdom. R4+ or bust while leveling. From borderlands to epic cap. Then r7+ that is duo or trips. Why bother with pugging anymore? Might get you in my group.

When would those same players ever play Elite outside of HC? I am sharing my direct experience over multiple servers, including HC, as a returning player. You are sharing a priori theoreticals. One advantage Elite groupings would have for newer players in the ability to self heal if they couldn't fit in a hireling. That is huge for a new player, especially when people run ahead. HC is a seasonal event and no indication of the common new player experience.

Why are people responding in this thread that said they had friends/family, experienced with multi-gaming, who quit the game in less than 2 weeks?

Why are people responding who saw massive die off in guilds/ guild activities as a result of Reaper becoming the predominant grouping mode?

Why are people responding who have ground out Reaper points but are still not happy with the state of Reaper in the game?

Sorry... you just doesn't make any sense. As @rabidfox said...

Players deal less 30% damage and take more 25% damage, right?

Reaper is a OPTIONAL challenge mode, if you don't like you don't need to run it. It divides the player base, yes. So does having 10 servers, 30 Levels divided in three categories Heroic - Epic - Legendary.

So your point is mute and link it to Free Favor is just blatant and ludicrous.

R1 with 2 players barely breaks a sweat against that 25% extra damage taken and 30% less damage output. Its still much easier than Elites were back in the day. You're pulling my leg claiming r1s are tough, maybe in epic, and by then you have people that milked out 1000s of points of favor with minimal effort if they never cranked up the difficulty.

I'm not pulling your leg... I just can't see how it has anything to do with "opportunities to free DDO points"... it come as easy as doing Elites.

Your statement that R1-R3 has any bearing on Favor earned makes no SENSE at all.
