My old potato would kick me in the tenders if i tried recording and trying to play at the same time.

The scene where I was chicken-lag-dancing with the pack of Mangy Dogs jumping up all around me like my pockets were full of Scooby snacks would've been in the running. :D

I'm building a new potato --- my current potato is from 2009. Looking forward to playing DDO on my Sony 4k 65" TV but goodness I am going to cringe when I see the lag if I can even figure out getting my TV's game settings mode to jive with DDOs UI and fonts!

In 2009 this was a beast! In 2025 it still runs DDO but it's over Beethoven!

Geeze, you got me beat by a year! Tho in 2010 my tater was nowhere near "beastly", coming off the shelf as it were.
Yeah. cdbd3rd, I went to a local computer show in Allentown PA, and was able to nab that mobo... it was high-end enthusiast motherboard built for
the 1st generation i7. At launch, this was bleeding-edge tech — the i7-920 paired with an EX58 board was the dream setup for gamers and enthusiasts with multi-GPU (SLI/CrossFire) support, and lots of SATA/USB ports. This Gigabyte board was to be released in a few weeks, and I got one from the 1st batch that was going to be boxed for retail. Pure luck to be at the right place at the right time.

I came within 10 seconds of failing stop Hazadil's Shipment (The one where you smash 50 boxes in 10 minutes)...due to lag. The timer kept going...even thought I was frozen most of the time.

On the flip side, I ran Protect Baudry's Interests (The one where you protect the box from the Kobolds). Spent most of the time frozen while the timer ticked away. The box barely took a scratch.

I have the video, might post somewhere, but I logged into the bank yesterday and was already in the bank, half way between the door and teller, it took me 5 minutes to get to the bank-teller on the left.

Also RIP Undermine at the Minefield part on anything other than a smurfing level.

I had to brag, didn't I? Got home from a day full of family drama yesterday to a crashed HD. I'm gonna miss my Win7. :(

This backup Win10 puter been sitting on a shelf waiting for this day.

OTOH, I found the perfect fix for lag.

But what do we have here? The cherry on top of the most nauseating, grotesque, and laggy excrement cake. And we're all going to take a big bite anyway.

At least now I understand the introduction that said something about an ancient and terrible curse... I'm starting to feel cursed.

Does your x58 board support xeon processors?

Slap an x5690 in there and let it live again. OC the xeon and keep it going even longer.

Your are very wise Vox. If I upgrade the BIOS I can slap in a zeon. I think ill just leave it as is though until I build my new beast model!
