Item hoarding

Here's the thing, not everyone's situation is the same. You assume I am from one of the major timezones so I can access raids like you can access hamburgers. And VoD was an example. There are plenty raids I cannot solo. So I hold onto the gear I have.
If they stop the silly BtC gear TR cache will become a non-issue and I will have no TR cache.

Rarity is not value, though. Utility is value.

You can have an item that's a guaranteed drop from a quest that's better than a super-rare item from a raid drop list. The fact that its hard to get doesnt mean its worth keeping.

If you want to keep it as a trophy or for sentimental reasons, that's fine. Just be aware we do not have trophy stashes or sentimental stashes, so that means you have to make a tradeoff for it

Hell, maybe they should have a trophy stash...cheap shared slots, but once you put something in you cant take it out, only delete it

That is not true. Hard to get just increases the opportunity cost of deleting it.... even if it's less helpful than a guaranteed drop.

Counter argument (trolling) would be if I demand everybody to tr into a different build after staying at cap , for 30 days max and that cannot level up if dont use atleast 20 named items because , well, because I say so

If its obsolete because something is better than it, and you have that something, it doesnt matter how cheap and easy that thing is. The old item is now a sentient snack.

Example: Dino Bone weapons made 90% of previous cap weapons obsolete, including many raid weapons. Not 100%, I know, but a grand majority of them. Dino Bone isnt hard to get at all, its a very quick grind, and its not gated behind any randomness. Yet they were still objectively better than many weapons that were far more of a grind.

My main has full gear sets for cap for the following
Tank
Debuffer
Healer
Melee - Thf
Melee - Wraps
Melee - Bear
Melee - Twf daggers
Melee - Twf kukris
Ranged - Shuri
Ranged - Bow, Inquis, Repeater (use same gear just different weapons)
Sorc
DC
Yes I have used them all and TR to them as needed, they are fully augmented and most are decently boosted.

Let alone pots, clickies, bags, etc that are also BTC.
I ensure I have 2 slots to take out heart/token and get a heart.

All my bta is moved to shared when I do TR's, reacquiring gear would mean deleting augs/boosts thats a **** option for an issue created by the devs.
I stay at cap because that's the content I do, emptying my cache means no inventory for playing thus being forced to TR due to not having slots to even wear my BTA gear.

Cache has been a storage system since I started playing, its a feature even if it wasn't intended to be.

SSG said I wouldn't need to clear it so that's on them for being wrong.

Look. If you think you're being helpful, by repeatedly telling everyone that they can just delete a bunch of their inventory, allow me to dissuade you of that. :)

I've not read through all this thread, but I started playing in '09 and quickly realized that gear management was going to be an issue, especially if you planned on doing the completionist. By starting with the racial completionist first, I was able to negate the gear issue .. somewhat. I still have lots of BtC stuff, but it's all spread across many toons. One of the ways to manage the item issue for me was to only do Racial TRs. Collect gear for a specific class and keep that (melee, ranged, caster, etc) gear on one toon.

For those who insist on holding onto EVERY item you ever farmed ... that's a YOU issue.

You can easily get rid of some of that gear and start over. Think of it as a new start. DDO wasn't going to last long on those old servers. This is their answer. You can either improvise, adapt, and deal with these new limitations or not. Stomping your feet and expecting the devs to bend over backward so you can keep a level 4 dagger is a tad over the top.

Lol... so your solution was to run a bunch of different archetypes and not a single main.

I'm glad that worked out for you... but that's not a helpful anecdote here

Oh, I have a main character that I play more than others, but he will always be a barbarian. He will never have any BtC caster, ranger, arti/rog gear that doesn't get fed to a gem.

I have a sorcerer that is probably my second 'main'. I've had her longer, but the barbarian is easier to solo with.

You can't help those who don't want to be helped, but that doesn't mean you aren't still being helpful :)

Naked table-top sessions can also be fun. :)
... true, just don't serve a lotta food if you plan on ... those ... kinds of activities.

We had a rather large PnP session at my house, with 5 or 6 people, and everyone brought lots of food. It was a 5-7 hour marathon. About 2/3 of the way through the night, one of the larger guys excused himself to go use the bathroom.

When he showed up in the hallway, all sweatty and asking for a plunger ... I'm GLAD we were all dressed ... LMFAO
