J'anara stats from the Darklake Wilderness

I am curious if anyone has figured out the stat requirements for this Marlith boss.

I know my fighter tank with 725 AC, 500 PRR, 350 MRR does just fine in there on R1, but the AC isn't as effective as it is normally. I get hit 3-4 out of 6 times and I see some big #s so I assume my 497 fortification isn't enough.

I suspect it's a case where a Dwarf Barbarian tank with decent dodge is the way to go as you go up skulls because of improved uncanny dodge, the radiant forcefield sla, and better dodge in general so you see more misses - even though barbarian tanks can't get top tier ac #s.

I was kind of surprised I Thought 725 would be enough for R1. I don't think it's a bad thing - adding challenge is good. I am just curious if anyone knows what AC is high effective in there on R1, R4, etc. - if anyone knows or cares. Also curious about the fortification requirement. Perhaps a swap weapon to improve my fort like Relentless is in order here. I didn't try that.

For the moment I don't plan to fight her above R1 unless I turn a character back into a Barbarian tank. But I just don't like the way Barbarian tank plays in most other situations so it likely won't happen any time soon.

Bit of a tangent, but it's not just tank stats: it also seems to have absurd amounts of fortification (somewhere in 250-300 range? who knows) and requires significant ac debuffing and 220+ to hit to not be a full fledged peasant living in Grazetown.

It legitimately seems like they accidentally typed the wrong numbers in on some of them - there's no good reason for it to have such absurd numbers across the board.

Edit: for clarification: it's stronger than the Abyss Lords, by a good margin at that.

The purple named Balor also seemed to have an incredibly high fortification. Don't recall see that many critical hits on R1 which made his 8mil HP feel like 20mil HP :l.

I am no where in your class for stats. I wouldn't even know how to get 750AC , but I found the Marilith to be nearly impossible to kill in one go even on normal.

She overruns me and all I can do is lay there and die. The Baylor killed me multiple times on elite (I was level 9) but once I got to level 12 and got the top tier actions, he isn't a problem. That Marlith, however, is insane.

I know all you super players just wish those of us who are just normal would quit the game so they could ramp it up to a challenging level for you, but please leave something for us mere mortals.

These rares shouldn't be THIS hard on NORMAL. And to be fair, most of them are super easy. But that one is insane, especially if you are a melee and don't really have a way to prevent the overrun.

You can do whatever you want with the R1s but leave something for those of us that are just barely hanging on as it is.

I'm pretty sure you missed the mark here where these mobs need to be dialed back so they dont require a full group.

Come back from crazy assumption land. Thats just ridiculous.

Improved Uncanny Dodge charges work great against Mariliths (and anything else that can hit you a bunch of times in rapid succession) in general. The problem is the 2 minute cooldown between uses.

A few things here

1) I am definitely not an uber player, but I do try my best to learn and play the best I can. I don't want anyone to quit the game. I created this thread because I thought possibly someone had figured out the AC requirements. Since 725 isn't enough, it will likely take someone running a multiclass build specifically for AC to figure that out. As others pointed out there are other stats as well that are higher than usual and often beyond what players have. Knowing these #s would be helpful. It's possible this enemy needs to be tuned by the devs - even if only on Normal and Hard.

2) With a group with tank/healer it should be an easy encounter on hard/normal. I have not contemplated soloing this encounter - I don't think I have a build ideal to solo this boss and am not interested in building one. Knockdown immunity and some healing over time such as "how dare you strike me" from divine crusader and embrace the pain from fury would be helpful for this encounter if someone is trying to solo.

It's a Marilith. That monster type is not fair when scaled like the other purple names of MD / Lamordia.

It's way stronger on R1 already than the R10 (weakened) Demon Princes - it would easily eat them for breakfast with a slice of adventurer on top.

While I can't comment on the exact numbers, I think its a good thing that there are encounters with absurd stats.
Players can hit 1000+ ac now, so 725 AC being only partially effective seems fine to me (for R+).
Players are also hitting 200+ fort bypass and can strip another ~400 on top of that. Kinda pointless for all that to exist if there's no monsters where you need it.

The Lantern enemies had insane AC for a long time in epic+ (sometimes going above 600), might be they messed up something again. I am curious what numbers you are grazing with there.

The balance between accessibility and challenge is up to SSG. I don't know if groups are having trouble completing this encounter on normal. It sounds like people are having trouble soloing it which is fine, but I am assuming a balanced casual group can complete this encounter on normal which is important because when people buy content they don't expect difficulty-gating on normal difficulty.

We completed it fine on Elite with me playing the lightning sorcerer character.

I did notice that no one can tank it in our group though.

Yeah, I always hated Mariliths. Im certainly no where near being a real good player but I had just killed the Baylor on normal , i think it had 1.5 mil hp and it took me a little while with my q-staff build, then shortly after, I found the Marilith and didnt last 5 min. with that. Maybe they should do dungeon scaling with those rares so it would be a little easier solo than with a group??? Way overtuned IMHO.

She hits so hard - the strategy was to have a tanky character that could take at least 1 hit run around in circles while the ranged characters got her.
It appears she also gets the same sort of buffs like the Marilyth in Threats?

Has anyone actually killed her on R10 yet? It was absolutely insane on just R1 😆

BTW. I really enjoyed the 2 other purple named fights in R1 with the group. Marilyth is very overtuned comparatively though.

if it makes you feel any better, i took my uber completionist lvl 36 artificer in there on r1 and he basically one shot me
but the day before, was in a 6 man pug, 3 of us in the balor room on r1, and we got through it with a few raises
i think its designed to be a group activity, raid bosses in a wilderness...

Ya shes been killed on r10 by a number of groups, kiting her and not getting hit happens exactly the same on R1 and R10, the only difference is time.
