yup. it's the time honored way to bleed DDO points (or Plat/Astral Shards) and I like it that way ;)

No, that's not a logical comparison, because toolkits *are* available in the game.

But if they were easier to get, people would not spend shards/points on them.

They are selling convenience, and if it is no longer inconvenient to get toolkits then they will sell less of them.

Sentient tool kits are not exactly common but common enough that unless you are regularly swapping out your entire jewel, you should not be having an issue with running out.

Jeweler's kits are a bit more on the rare side, but speaking for myself - with good adherence to getting in your daily silver roll, they are not a huge issue either. I've never bought a Jeweler's Kit, and yet between the very occasional weekly freebie and silver rolling, I have more than 70 of them muled away.

Run Cogs / Sharn. I get more sentient tool kits than i use from these sagas. Literally give them away to folks in the group. Jewelers tool kits...yeah buy those when on sale.
This is how it was, and at one point l had over 30, but started swapping and testing weapons and went through them pretty quick.

6 runs through cogs R3-4 and Zippo! I remember these dropping way back on Hard/ Elite Al the time.

Of course it’s because l need them lol

I get it. Who doesn't wish everything was free? But...when it comes to spending money on DDO I ask myself, "How much would I have spent if I had gone to the movies as many hours as I play DDO?" The answer is I would have spent WAY more going to the movies for the same length of time. DDO is CHEAP entertainment per hour in my humble opinion. Also the staff of Standing Stone Games need to feed their families too.

Thank you for reading this far and enjoy YOUR DDO time :)

TY SSGames for keeping my pastime going.

I agree, and purchasing expansion and things not available in game and even things available in game when l need them is a non issue.

Only reason l haven’t just grabbed the 10 pack sent tool kits from store is l have a great weapon and and in no rush at the moment with how the game is performing.

Just for something that admittedly is an easy drop, if it were added to the saga end rewards like bone picker l would probably already have 2 or 3. 😃

Kind of like what l’m experiencing in Vecna right now;

Saltmarsh and IoD were both great for drops. Everything seemed fair (other than Nebula maybe) and then if you weren’t getting a gear drop you were getting an augment or other (feeder) drop regularly enough that it always felt well worth the time to keep chasing.

When l first started IoD l needed +16 Dbl Strike augment and had one on my first chain run. Think I have 2 or 3 now, although have run who knows how many times.

Vecna l’ve only run maybe 5 times but Zero augments. Zero augments and very few drops of anything. If l wouldn’t have aggressively rerolled the chest for my gear l’m guessing l would still be farming now.

I hear MD is far worse than this.

Glad l decided Vecna loot is better and stuck with it.

I have no issue spending $’s on entertainment.

Vecna is simply less entertaining than Salt or IoD because when the chance of Any reward becomes dismal, the desire to play Dies.

If desire to play Dies, so does desire to spend $’s, specially when it starts to feel like you’re being cheated.

They post what drop rates are supposed to be, yet in recent expansions things have changed. To believe that no one is going to notice and/ or lose their desire to play the game vs pay more and chase the rabbit even harder is a pipe dream.

A restaurant is only good until the Quality of service/ food you are receiving drops below what you consider value for $’s spent. When that happens you stop going to that restaurant and most likely never go back.

Having said this, l do recognize that SSG has made changes when the cry is loud enough, even when they said they would Not change things. This at least gives me hope. 😃

Hope that SSG is taking notes on all that is being said and starts making Better decisions before it’s too late.

It takes 11 kits to swap to a new weapon, unless you've blocked your jewels from being experienced (not necessarily stoned, but beautiful). IMHO, buying kits is pretty much mandatory.

There are things you can do to mitigate required buys, like putting 210K SXP on a leveling weapon as well as your main and then level/TR with a "carry build" to minimize weapon changes. It helps, but with a drop rate of about 1 kit per month, it's not enough to stave off the store by a very long margin.

TIP to reduce jewel kit buys: any store augment that sells for less than kit/10 DDO Points should be destroyed rather than removed. Plus, only buy kits in lots of 10. I also overwrite augments that fall into the "excessively banked" category.

I would rather see them combine all the removal toolkits into 1. Just call them Augment Removal toolkits, and let them replace Sentient, Jewelers, Bonepicker, Legacy, etc.

Of course, they should still sell them in store.
