Note:
I am contemplating the possibility of transforming this build into a Dragon Lord T5/Swashbuckler using hand axes, for the strong weapon crit profile it can reach:
15-20/x5
Critical threat range
Base
> 20: Hand Axes
Feats
> +1 feat bonus: 'Improved Critical: Slashing' (feat)
Heroic enhancements/spells
> +2 competence bonus: Bard's 'Swashbuckling* [C3]' {base bonus}
> +2 competence bonus: Bard's 'Swashbuckling* [C3]' {*doubled bonus if you have the IC feat}
= 15-20
Critical damage multiplier
Base
> x3: Hand Axes
Heroic enhancements/spells
> +2 competence bonus: Dragon Lord's 'Conqueror [T5]'
= x5

Crit damage multiplier boosts = +1
Epic Destinies
> +1 on 19-20 rolls: Fatesinger's 'Blade Song [T5]'
= x6
Expanded Vorpal threat range = +1 (19-20)
Feats
> +1: 'Perfect Single Weapon Fighting' (feat)
I have not done any detailed planning, just brainstorming some possibilities:
> Bard 15/Dragon Lord 5?
> Bard 14/Dragon Lord 6?
Either option would remove the trapping aspect of the build.

> Bard 12/Dragon Lord 6/Rogue 2?

Perhaps removing the bard + the caster hybrid aspects completely, and being fully melee focused?
> Dragon Lord 15/Bard 3/Rogue 2?

Perhaps leave this build as is, since it's great fun to play, and make a new alt?

Whichever choice I take, it would take a me a while to get this properly planned + at endgame in the live game, but it looks like it will make a fun variation with a slightly similar playstyle to the one I have now.

In the meantime, below are notes ref U66 changes for the build as it currently is:

U66 changes (updated in the forums and DDOBuilder file)
Basically no active changes required for this build.

> The key passive changes all seem positive:
  • Fatesinger
    • Core abilities now grant +15 HP
    • DC for Discord abilities (melee/ranged) is now 20 + highest mod + stun DC
    • DC for Discord (spell) is now 20 + highest of int/wis/cha + evocation DC
    • Little bit of Music and Master the Acoustics have swapped places in the tree

  • Shadowdancer
    • Core abilities now grant +15 HP and +25 SP.

  • Machrotechnic
    • The cooldowns of the Hammer Time spells and the damaging Epic Strikes have swapped places - leaving the Sonic and Electric Epic Strikes at 10 seconds and the Hammer spells at 15 seconds.
All in all, the build is good to go as is :) Enjoy!

I am a fan of hand axe builds. I have had quite a few that are based off of a very old build called Dwarven Defender Parody Which was a mix of Barb, Bard, Rogue , but that was many many years ago. The build has evolved and now many routes can be taken.

I normally play like a 12 Barb/ 6 Bard / 2 Rogue , And i have done variations of this with rogue being 12, or the bard being 12 . I have also used Fighter instead of Bard , or 5 cleric animal domain for the hp.. so many variations.

I was playing Tiefling using the sonic damage they would get in their racial tree core. But then they went and did this goofy imbue thing and it messed up the Tiefling core tree. But I feel there are better races to pick these days.

When Shadar kai come out and when they made the ability to use chains twice , auto granted one, and the one up in T5 of shadar kai it made it awesome for clearing packs of monsters.
Now with Dragon Lord I am thinking a good mixture Dragon Lord Bard rogue. 2 rogue will get those 3 imbue dice tier 2 assassin tree. Bard gets some imbue dice plus the DL .

When I play hand axe builds sometimes I play Dex build, sometimes I play Cha build. I like the charisma build because its easy to get the to hit and damage from feydark illusionist tree.

I have played the build using gold curse dagger before also for the CC turning things to gold. The Shadar Kai chains and a gold curse dagger .. = very nice :D
But I still love using the hand axe. Such nice damage.

Thanks for sharing your experience with Handaxe builds, lots of great food for thought there!

In my ideal world, I'd like to retain the hybrid aspect I currently have: this would involve going CHA and Bard as the main class.
I'm kinda willing to drop the trapper aspect, if this means securing Enchantment DCs for CC and Cut the Strings, again, to keep the current playstyle. Considering I will need at least 5 levels Dragon lord, this might need to be the case, anyway.
Like you said, previously this would have been Frenzied Berzerker T5, but Dragon Lord is a MUCH nicer combo for its synergy with CHA, so I'm definitely leaning towards that.

If the hybrid concept doesn't pan out, I'd very likely lean towards 3 class-multiclass, and I agree that Rogue seems a great option, and so does Shadar-kai + chains + SWF speed.

Really wish I had some spare time to delve into planning this build, but will definitely come back to your post for some inspiration when I do get that chance! :)

I have spent endless hours over on test server trying variations. Its not the best dps build out there, but it does have consistent sustained dps.

I have messed with different densities also. I have played with fatesinger, LD, Shadow Dancer, fury of the wild.

I have played the build with nothing offhand, orb offhand ( fiddle from dryad demigod raid ) and tried buckler off hand.
The buckler off hand is a bit more feat hungry because your leveling up shield masteries...

I havent tried the mech epic destiny tree yet for anything. I havent even looked at it yet honestly. But I think a really awesome build could be put together , I wish the Dragon Lord had Sonic damage that would really be nice to put together.

I am playing DL right now its a DROW 12 DL, 3 Bard, 5 Rogue.. It was extremely painful to level through heroics because it lacked AOE , and my only aoe atm is Cutter , ill get another aoe when I get higher level and t5 destinies.

When I TR It will be the shadar kai.. then I have to figure how much DL I want, have to use atleast 3 bard.. and going to be a rogue from being shardar kai, Unless I use a lesser heart and change the 1 rogue to 1 warlock for Aura and Arcane Warrior epic feat..

Just so many ways to play it :D Any way.. When I get to making my second TR as DL ill keep you posted on what route I went.

If you don't mind sharing, which ? was your favourite?

Also curious about your favourite combat style ??

Very grateful for your time sharing your experiences and suggestions, and definitely keen to learn more interesting variations of this specific build/ archetype (especially the ones I have not tested myself before).

Thanks again! :)

I didnt have a favorite really. It really depended on if you were grouped or solo play. If I was playing High reaper with guildies in a balanced party. So having more Barb or Fighter levels gave me more dps. I say Barb or Fighter because because they were the ones I would take to get the tier 5 stuff, Minimum 3 Bard is always there.. third class could be anything also. Rogue preferred for sneak dice .

Going 12 rogue, 5 barb ( or Figther) , 3 Bard Dex build was lots of dps. This was my Shadar Kai build. Lots of sneak dice, plus you need 21 dex to get the epic sneak attack dice at level 23 I think it is. My Dex damage mod came from Swash tree, and I think my to hit was Weapon Finesse feat. Plus the two chains was nice.

That gave nice dps, because I would be behind monsters while tank was tanking them.

The Charisma build was more for Tielfing Which I enjoyed until they messed up the combat system with these imbue dice things.
I will post this 5 minute video of how my build looked before the atrocious imbue system.

The Charisma build requires taking the feat Magical Training so you can use the Fey Dark illusionist tree. Or you can save the feat, and burn 4 Enhancement points in the spell singer tree to take 3 Magical studies ranks to get the Magical Training feat. But I dont like giving up those 4 E.P. Charisma to hit is from Feydark Illusionist, and the Cha Damage is in Swashbuckler.
Going Charisma build gave better DC for Cut The strings because I think back at that time it was based on Charisma. I know they revamped many of these SLA to go off modifier of your highest stat now. You could take more Bard levels be a 12 bard instead of a 12 rogue.. would give you more spells to cast.

As for my favorite combat style I love Single Weapon Fighting, nothing in off hand, and making sure to get Off hand Versatility feat, and the tier 3 swash Dashing Scoundrel nothing in off hand gives you more attack damage and double strike.

Also note having the buckler, and going shield mastery route does add to some defense and when I do play that style I play Fighter instead of Barbarian , because I also take Stalwart Defender which jacks up my PRR and hit points and AC , you can get the 25 % more hit points and 6 more con .. Plus you can tap into Vanguard some also to get some more shield attacks if your going buckler route.

I havent really played the build since the video im about to post and this was back when they implemented the atrocius imbue system ( you can tell I dont care for it :D )

There are so many arch types to consider, but Dragon Lord has my eyes right now. As I said in prior post I am playing kind of a hybrid build right now, but it was painful not having the AOE from being Cha focused means I didnt get power attack and no cleave or great cleave. So heroics was dreadful killing things one at a time.

When I TR, I know I will be a Shadar Kai, Dragon Lord, bard, and probably rogue, or I can do a level 1 warlock for aura for Arcane Warrior. But If I have rogue in there, my dragon roar can stun them, then I can hop over them and swing my chains at their backs.

Here is my guy before the imbue patch. What I liked about Tiefling was the damages stacked in the core. Core 1, core 3, and core 5 , as the targets hit points dropped, you start doing more damage. so at 75% you got an addiotnal damage, and then at 50%, and then again at 25 % , plus got a sonic damage from the swashbuckling tree Resonant arms wasnt an imbue then, it was just sonic damage added to hits. And then I forget if Fate singer, or if it was the level 30 Legendary feat Scion of Feywild , its not 3 imbue dice, but back before the atricious imbue system I think it also added sonic damage to your hits.
So in the video below you see lots of damage flying around. But the atrocious imbue system ruined that :p heheh. The fighting starts around 2:20 , than around 3:00 I try to demonstrate me just hitting one monster to show how the extra damage icons start showing up as its health goes down, but I must had procced and said.. Oh well .. hes dead...
