I didnt have a favorite really. It really depended on if you were grouped or solo play. If I was playing High reaper with guildies in a balanced party. So having more Barb or Fighter levels gave me more dps. I say Barb or Fighter because because they were the ones I would take to get the tier 5 stuff, Minimum 3 Bard is always there.. third class could be anything also. Rogue preferred for sneak dice .
Going 12 rogue, 5 barb ( or Figther) , 3 Bard Dex build was lots of dps. This was my Shadar Kai build. Lots of sneak dice, plus you need 21 dex to get the epic sneak attack dice at level 23 I think it is. My Dex damage mod came from Swash tree, and I think my to hit was Weapon Finesse feat. Plus the two chains was nice.
That gave nice dps, because I would be behind monsters while tank was tanking them.
The Charisma build was more for Tielfing Which I enjoyed until they messed up the combat system with these imbue dice things.
I will post this 5 minute video of how my build looked before the atrocious imbue system.
The Charisma build requires taking the feat Magical Training so you can use the Fey Dark illusionist tree. Or you can save the feat, and burn 4 Enhancement points in the spell singer tree to take 3 Magical studies ranks to get the Magical Training feat. But I dont like giving up those 4 E.P. Charisma to hit is from Feydark Illusionist, and the Cha Damage is in Swashbuckler.
Going Charisma build gave better DC for Cut The strings because I think back at that time it was based on Charisma. I know they revamped many of these SLA to go off modifier of your highest stat now. You could take more Bard levels be a 12 bard instead of a 12 rogue.. would give you more spells to cast.
As for my favorite combat style I love Single Weapon Fighting, nothing in off hand, and making sure to get Off hand Versatility feat, and the tier 3 swash Dashing Scoundrel nothing in off hand gives you more attack damage and double strike.
Also note having the buckler, and going shield mastery route does add to some defense and when I do play that style I play Fighter instead of Barbarian , because I also take Stalwart Defender which jacks up my PRR and hit points and AC , you can get the 25 % more hit points and 6 more con .. Plus you can tap into Vanguard some also to get some more shield attacks if your going buckler route.
I havent really played the build since the video im about to post and this was back when they implemented the atrocius imbue system ( you can tell I dont care for it

)
There are so many arch types to consider, but Dragon Lord has my eyes right now. As I said in prior post I am playing kind of a hybrid build right now, but it was painful not having the AOE from being Cha focused means I didnt get power attack and no cleave or great cleave. So heroics was dreadful killing things one at a time.
When I TR, I know I will be a Shadar Kai, Dragon Lord, bard, and probably rogue, or I can do a level 1 warlock for aura for Arcane Warrior. But If I have rogue in there, my dragon roar can stun them, then I can hop over them and swing my chains at their backs.
Here is my guy before the imbue patch. What I liked about Tiefling was the damages stacked in the core. Core 1, core 3, and core 5 , as the targets hit points dropped, you start doing more damage. so at 75% you got an addiotnal damage, and then at 50%, and then again at 25 % , plus got a sonic damage from the swashbuckling tree Resonant arms wasnt an imbue then, it was just sonic damage added to hits. And then I forget if Fate singer, or if it was the level 30 Legendary feat Scion of Feywild , its not 3 imbue dice, but back before the atricious imbue system I think it also added sonic damage to your hits.
So in the video below you see lots of damage flying around. But the atrocious imbue system ruined that

heheh. The fighting starts around 2:20 , than around 3:00 I try to demonstrate me just hitting one monster to show how the extra damage icons start showing up as its health goes down, but I must had procced and said.. Oh well .. hes dead...
