King's forest is dead

🤣, sorry, not sorry 🤬
SSG nerfs a lot of things. I will assume I know what you are talking about. There is a laundry list of things we all wish were undone. This was one of the few nerfs that actually adversely effected their wallet 💵 💰 💴 So color me impressed.

Ok, I missed something about a change to King's Forest.
I guess it's because of the change to A Grim Disturbance. There used to be any lfms to make slayers in King's Forest using that rare. Now that's gone.

Slayering there wasn't my cup of tea, but I never understood the need to remove something that made so many people happy either. Sometimes it's like SSG wants to lose customers.

Thats been the problem here for a while now. When the players like something, like certain trees, builds, 10 year old spells (like sonic blast), and in this case a wilderness encounter, they turn around and nerf it. They dont seem to understand that people play games to have fun??? They need to quit focusing on end game uberness and make the game fun for everyone.

Ah, so they had something not working as intended and they fixed it, makes sense.

The Grim Disturbance rare in King's Forest actually provided a nice break from the otherwise relentless grind.

I also found that the relaxed nature of it allowed for socializing with people, in a way that no other content in DDO provides. So I'm quite sad about this change.

The fact that the XP caps out at level 25- and that it also encouraged people to buy slayer pots- also leaves me confused as to why this was necessary...

Was there a reason provided somewhere, like on Discord? I don't think I have permissions on the DDO Discord due to the phone number requirement.

There was a theory that when they added the wilderness portals to MD it affected the code for Grim in Kings Forest. It is at least plausible considering MD also broke the doppelganger fight in Haunted Halls (the blinding effect now happens the moment you walk into the hallway) and there is a similar blinding volume effect in Book Burning that properly triggers that way.
New content breaks old content, and unless the break is particularly bad (like it was with U60s pipes and missing floor collision) it is unlikely to ever get fixed. I don't figure they intended to "fix" Grim, but highly doubt they will spend the time to "unfix" it.

How did it affect their wallet?
All those people lining up to buy 12 year old content now will say, geez, no more infinite spawns on a single rare in the wilderness area? I'm out!

There is so much epic xp out there that I do two epic lives each heroic life and still rarely repeat a quest. I'd like to see another saga in the mid-20s for sure to smooth things out , but there is a ton 20-25 already.

There are things that aren't WAI and should be fixed asap because they are detrimental to the game. But when something that isn't WAI has turned out to be harmless to the health of the game, and has actually helped grouping and is popular there is no reason to change it (slayers in King's forest without that rare are very bad, the mob density is too low there to do slayers there. And with that rare things weren't op, just okay).

That rare had been there for over 10 years and didn't create any problems. There was no reason to change it.

Does anyone have the stats on how many kills per minute you could get from this rare, with and without slayer pots, and then lets layout a chart for the xp with or without xp pots for those kills and how does this relate in time comparison to questing or other encounter areas? This might give us some insight as to why they may have changed this?

Secondly, could this encounter be farmed out while you are away from your keyboard as that too would also be very exploitive, especially if someone was multiboxing five other accounts? i am unaware because i have never used this encounter for xp.

If none of that is applicable than I am not sure why they would bother either.

The fix is not the problem. The problem is SSG has an utterly ridiculous way of deciding what to use their very limited manhours on.
And that incompetency makes players loose faith in anything they do.

Why do they spend time on things that are NOT a problem and people actually like.

There are countless things to fix that are a problem and people hate.

but as stated in a previous post there is so much quest XP in epics that slayers is not needed.

And? You're exactly saying it, it's not op. But it was popular, and that's why it shouldn't be removed. The game should make people have fun, that's the purpose of all games.

I didn't like slayering here because I thought it was a waste of a potion, which was better used in necro or thunder, which gave more experience. But there were people who did like it, and that was good, slayers need a group, anything that promotes grouping is good. Nowadays there are even more wilderness that give better xp, but even so rare had its unconditional followers. Why change it? Happy players are players who invest money in the game.
