The objective is to change all "must have" abilities like Adrenaline for melee and Hunts End for ranged to open up new possibilities.
I suppose the only two options they have are:

  • Making all epic strikes/epic destinies equally strong and effective (including many changes in heroic enhancement trees too)
  • Automatically giving everyone at level 20 Adrenaline and Hunts End as epic feats and having something else new to replace Adrenaline and Hunts in epic destinies.
Which one do you prefer ?
imo best way is to make them all same equally strong and effective

I believe they chose choice number 3, make them all weak and equally ineffective.

I am of the belief that for update 69 the devs should incorporate A Belt to @$$ Patch. Each dev goes around and take turns and grabs the belt and spends a week smacking the other devs so they remember why they're there.
Put some hot clarity in what they do.
Team huddles would be much faster and more focused.

Balance doesn't just mean damage numbers. Seems like the main focus on all of these nerfs is numbers numbers numbers (and negligible cooldown adjustments)

They brought up other epic strikes but it's all just damage. The main draw of dragon breath (to me) was that it was aoe. Same with holy fireball, though that's not a strike. Bump up moonlance and whatever else all you want, even if it had a 1sec cooldown that's going to be TORTURE to play unless you're fighting a raid boss or similar sack of HP.

Changing all of them from "must have" to "why bother" is a type of balance, I guess. I suppose the ED pass has the upside of no longer needing to find space on my hotbars when I hit 20.
they're hardly why bother, even if they're not as strong as they used to be—even the hardest hit, dragon breath, is now better than delayed blast fireball, and DBF stays very relevant through cap.

Hunt's end will just get replaced by fate's strike or shadow dancer's strike (both substantially buffed)

Heroic Dark Hunter tree has CC, Avoidance and an Assassinate ability.

Things Epic Destiny Shadow Dancer once had.

Shadow Dancer still has no:
CC ( -Shadow Manipulation)
Stealth Executioner type kill strike
AOE attack (well, Weird but not, did have Consume before)
No Pass through enemies

Give Shadow Dancer an AOE CC, it could even be tied in to From the Shadows, An AOE Stun with Smoke-Glitterdust Embers as a Tier builder.

Shadow Dancer has a Caster Instakill affect, it should also have the Executioner Strike/Shot affect it had before.
Why give a Caster an Instakil(mind you an AOE more Powerful one) and take away the Stealth Martial one?
Let it require action to be performed in Stealth/Unseen as a Prerequisite then.
I mean Fatesinger got one in an AOE DanceDanceRevolution Style on a One minute timer with a flick of the wrist.

From the Shadows.png From the Shadows: From a stealthed position, dissolve into shadows, Passing through Enemies, before appearing some distance in front of you. This grants you the buffs from your Shadowdancer Epic Strike if you have them trained. Cooldown: 20 seconds. Note: This ability requires the character to have the Stealth feat active ("in stealth") to use it

Please tell me more about these Epic Abilities that are just as good as spells I get by level 14.

Fatesinger:
Arrow of Discord
This ability is now an AOE.
This ability now deals +15% damage (was 30%).

Shadowstrike (Ranged)
This ability is now an AOE.
This ability now deals +25% damage (was 50%).

Seems buffed for you? For me, it's pure nerf by 100% damage. But it's not worst nerf, yea, because other now-AoE attacks nerfed by 200% damage.
Myass, in comparison with the upcoming changes, even IPS looks like the king of the balance: it reduces damage by only 20% and can be turned off during a fight with the boss!
Why bother to roll ranged toon at all after U66?

Actually a melee range spell with 1d6+5 on a 12 sec cd is terrible and not at all better then a long range 3 second(2 sec with 30%CD-R easily achievable) 1d6+7
Now if the 1d6+5 “epic strike” is something players are supposed to be excited for once they hit lvl 20, I can say I will not be. It is horrendous.
DBF is arguably 5 times more DPS the moment u hit lvl 20 and pick up DB, which nobody ever will.
Even at later levels with having the tier4 DB upgrade it is still terrible.
And need me to say it again? DBF is affected by enlarge and can be cast from the other side of the map!
Let’s see DPs comparison of 2sec(30%cdr) DBF vs tier4 upgraded DB, DBF is still 4 times the DPS of DB!!!
