Testing the Wild Mage - loving it! And have to say Eladrin looks great, the dual hair tones are fabulous!

My feedback:
  • T3: Prismatic Mind - I think this should be a 2-pointer that covers all spells listed rather than a 3 point upgrader.
  • Chaos Hammer - This is currently the only spell limited by character alignment. I don't think it needs to be for this archetype.
  • Add/fix a Epic Spell Power feat that works for Chaos Damage. Taking the Light/Alignment didn't count towards it.
  • Epic Destinies don't synergise well. Would love to see perhaps Chaos Draconic Evo / Exalted Angel / Shiradi upgrades.
  • T3- Chaos Sphere SLA - when it said the DC scaled with highest of INT/WIS/CHA or Evocation/Conjuration - I didn't actually see any changes to DC when the other stats / Conjuration bonuses were higher. (not sure if bug or just doesn't update hover texts)
  • Higher level Chaos spells would be nice (8-9)

Thank you so much for listening to our feedback and taking action on several items I like that type of collaboration and interaction. I ran some quests as the iconic wild mage, I had a lot of fun the visuals are great.

Others here mentioned possibly adding a greater chaos sphere spell and a prismatic wall spell that would be the bomb and fill in some spells much-needed level 8 and 9.

Thanks for adding Master of Chaos epic feat I’ll be sure to take that on live.

If you do a Scion of Chaosmancer please bump up the Prismatic Mind damage.

Not sure what Destiny to take but time to figure it out.

This looks better if still a quirky class. Wildstrike is super nice but all MCL10 spells fall off a cliff between L15-L24. Why inflict this pain on players?

I think this is complemented well by the new eladrin iconic because then you can also multi-class a few levels of some healing class w/o losing immunity stripping. As a levelling class I predict this will be a beast. You can stack illusionist as well and even get a bit of damage out of the color spray SLA.

The main thing I'm missing is an update to the prismastic spells who still use the old spell dice. I know you added the procs, but that effectively locks them in as wild mage only for forever basically.

Scion of Kythri
+4 DC to Evo (the new Chaos spells are typed Evo I assume?), +2 to others
+10 L&A spellpower, +30 Universal, +25% Chaos crit damage, +10% all other crit damage
+10% chance for Wild Surges. If you roll a Very Bad or Bad surge, you can reroll it once.
+1d6 Imbue Dice, rerolled every 1 min

Is it just me or Chaos Control Enhancements do nothing ?
Or did they consider the "slow" debuff as "neutral" ? ?

Is there no immunity breaking with this archetype? I ask cause mob mobs, deamon, undead, will likely be immune.... Feels like this will be a step down from a real Sorcerer.

is the spell crit only when surging? i don't show it applying to all spells in the character sheet?

Bypass is tied to using elemental savant trees or playing the Eladrin iconic (which is a Wildmage sorc by default). Even then both bypasses are for the elemental damage, not the chaos portion. Chaos is alignment based damage, much like the evil damage of Warlock and Dark Apostate few things are immune to it.

I thought chaotic creatures would be immune to chaos damage, am I wrong?
I believe that only applies to the Chaos Hammer spell. I haven't touched the lamania cycle yet, I've been busy with life. I think it'll function more like Warlock's evil damage and apply regardless of alignment.

Evil creatures aren't immune to evil damage and chaos is just like that. Except for spells that state "only effects X alignments" or "Y alignment is immune" or if a mob has "Immunity to chaos" as racial feature.

That is correct - Chaos Hammer does not work on Chaotic creatures, and certain older weapon-based forms of Chaos Damage do not work on Chaotic creatures.

However, outside of Chaos Hammer, the Chaos damage from Wild Mage should work on most things unless that creature type itself is immune to Chaos damage (Slaads, for instance.)

What specifically is still capped at flat damage? My question was related to all spells and spell like abilities.

I know I'd lose capstones, but I've had a flavor build idea for a couple of years that, if it increases damage, DCs, and duration of all spells (and SLAs), and DCs of eldritch blasts, it would actually make the flavor build feasible without being totally gimped.
It wont raise DCs because DCs arent affected by caster level. Without factoring in gear or enhancments or any extra fluff,
a spell DC is: 10 + Spell Level + Your Modifier.
So if your charisma is 20, a base fireball DC is 10 + 3 (Fireball is a 3rd level spell) + 5 (The mod of 20 Charisma).

Mixed magics will raise damage and duration to the caps of the given spells. (Fireball caps at 10d6 at caster level 10, a 5 sorcerer / 15 druid casting a sorcerer fireball will be doing 10d6 instead of the expected 5d6).

If the devs are serious about making Wild Mage support multiclassing then have Mixed Magics allow you to use the highest of your INT, WIS, or CHA.

In the pnp 3.5e Complete Arcana, Wild Mage wasn't just a sorc. It could be any spellcaster. The requirements to be a Wild Mage was any chaotic and the ability to cast level 1 arcane spells.

If the devs implemented the change to Mixed Magics as mentioned above not only would it keep the flavor of Wild Mage but it won't make it OP either because if you multiclass you are still bound by the rules of spell level access from multiclassing.

Personally, I think Wildmage with its ability to take either Int Wis or Cha as bonus stats in its tier 3+4, tied to the fact it has at least that one SLA that says it uses Int Wis or Cha, it feels like it started life as a Universal tree, and they decided to adapt it to an Archtype. If that's the case, I assume there's a good reason. Its a shame though, I think Wildmage (if it were a Uni tree) + Feydark could be a fun combo on any caster class

I agree, feels very much like a universal tree and would've been better as one.

You lose DCs too unless you multiclass with a class that synergizes with Sorc like a Warlock.
Warlock/Wild Mage is a crappy combo. Going from Warlock 20 to level 16 or 17 loses too much: 30% spell crit dmg, 5% spell crit chance, EB+pact dice, and whatever else you need to give up in Soul Eater to fuel the AP costs in Wild Mage tree. Nothing in Wild Mage comes close to closing that power gap.

The opposite doesn't work at all (16-17 Wild Mage/3-4 Warlock) because Eldritch Blast progression is gained when Warlock levels are taken. If Acolyte of the Skin EB feats were made to work like the Monk form feats, where you could purchase them independent of the Monk levels you have, then there might be something with 18 Wild Mage/2 Warlock that leans on Eldritch Blast. But that doesn't exist today,.

I still wish they'd decouple those feats from AotS and make them available for any warlock build.

I was thinking Stormsinger 16/WM 4 might be interesting on the iconic with lightning strip but that’s about the best I can think of so far.

Losing level 9 spells is a non starter to me for any class.
