Lamordia Fortification - Seriously?

I noticed I was very rarely critically hitting, in spite of having good seeker and no problem hitting normally.

For reference, I'm dual wielding scimitars on a close to maxed out Dragonlord. Running low (1-3) skull reaper, and look specifically at my attack rolls against non-constructs (humans, hook horrors, mephits, etc.)

With 55% Fortification bypass, improved destruction on my weapon, and spamming sunder (108 DC), I'm still scoring critical hits on 15-20 less than half the time. Checking combat log, I keep seeing "Critical hit resisted".

Devs, please tell me this is an accident. Every single mobile having 100%+ Fortification? This is not fun. It's borderline infuriating.

It looks like I need to trade in my patience feat for Improved Sundering.

55% fort bypass is very low.

Relatively easy to acquire fort bypass sources are:
- precision, 25%
- fort bypass enhancement bonus, 23%
- fort bypass insightful bonus, 11%
- shattered device fort bypass x2, 10%
- artifact fort bypass, 30%
- lamordia favor feat, 5%

This totals up to 104, wich is still not enough for a lot of enemies in newer content, i wasn't feeling well on my melee DPS toon til i got him to 134% fort bypass (in myth drannor at least)
Allthough 134 bypass might be too high, i'm not entirely sure on the sweet spot for fort bypass in newer content, i assume it must at least break 120%

I swear SSG made some MOB changes. Yesterday in Spinner of Shadows non elite spiders were deflecting arrows on my archer with ease! It is like with every new expansion they make mobs tougher and tougher in order to handle the power creep they introduced. Look at wolves in elite quests 9-12, then go to Ravenloft elite 9-12 and the wolves are bittng you for 100 dmg!!

Spiders, missile deflection, really SSG!?!

This is how the devs claw back the power increases we get from higher level gear. So those extra filigree slots on higher level artifacts have to be used for fort bypass rather than more melee power.

It was very noticeable in MD content and even more so in Lamordia. And if you remember we had legendary ward in Sharn for a while but that, including high mob fortification was removed, in return for the stat squish. Now it is back again but we remain squished.

120% plus Sunder works for most

I must say i am glad i only do a once thru on myth drannor per life. It sounds like the new xpac doesnt have any value for the more casual first life player if these mechanics exist, so unless it goes on a very low ddo point sale I will likely never play the content. Easy decision thanks SSG.

MD slotted in a Lv range starved for new content, it is on a rotation with GH (a very old and rundown content). Besides the horrid map size and lack of teleporters to quest, MD quests give a fair return in EXP/min, gear and option during leveling. On the other side, Lamordia is packed on satured Lv range, after run Feywild and Dread there is so much EXP and gear that is almost inevitable skip heroic Lamordia.

Now, on Legendaries is a tastes choice run it or not. As we can see, it is new, but isn't shinning.

55% Fortification bypass

There's your issue. You want to be over 100%. Especially on a crit-focused build, it's something you'll have to invest in. The good news...is that you can get there fairly easily. Precision (25%) artifact (30%) and just a normal item (23%) is already most of the way there. I'm surprised you're even getting crits half the time.

55% is OK in heroics but not at endgame. Destruction won't have time to stack up against most enemies, and 108 sunder won't land much of the time. As a DL your DCs can be 130,140+ so this might be a gearing issue, but regardless, you have to have actual fort bypass.

If players can get 300%+ fortification, I don't think normal mobs having 100% or even 150% fort is all that absurd, especially given that melee and ranged are on average in a very strong position.

Have the devs stated why? Do they not want non-casters to have fun?

This is painfully out of touch.
