How will the cosmetic rewards be shared across one's account (or to the 32 bit server) once the event ends? ...if the event ends?

Like mentioned before probably a vendor in HoH on all servers where you can get your cosmetics once you unlock them. The mount can be bound to account on acquire like most other mounts.

We DO NOT NEED 2 levels on heroic, 4 levels on epic and 3 levels with lamp. Please, just stop all the damn special cases!

I have made my feelings clear in other places about my opinions on Cormyr and this event being VIP-only for the foreseeable future (TLDR: not a VIP, not a fan), but I have to admit this does look more interesting than I'd initially given it credit for. Certainly I'll be giving it a look when Lamannia comes up.
Part of running this on the Cormyr server is probably a test run for potentially running it on the main servers. It was stated in the last Friday at Four that there was a chance to revisit the event on the servers later.

Sounds like they could've easily just added this to reaper mode. Also a huge disappointment that it's not VIP only. Horrible replacement for HCL.
They are killing 3 birds with 1 stone (maybe more): 1st replacement of Hardcore season with an Opt in approach to the event, 2nd testing the new 64-bit servers, 3rd discovering potential lag points since the "server noise" is quelled with the new enviroment.

Are our characters transferable to regular servers after the event? Or are the cosmetics only for the new server?
The 64-bit server is going to stay up even after the event is over so no transfers off.

Hello folks! We at pleased to announce the new event that will be running on the 64 bit server Cormyr when it launches.

Overview: The Mists of Ravenloft have begun to appear with greater frequency across the planes. Further more, there are reports of mysterious whispering shapes appearing in those mists. Some appear humanoid, others snake-like with rumors of a great serpent sometimes being seen. No one is safe at night. People are beginning to disappear from Faerun to Ebberon, falling prey to these Mist Stalkers as they are soon named.

Shortly after these disappearances begin a group of strangers appear from the mists bearing curious magical lanterns. They call themselves the Order of the Guardians, and they claim they have a solution to this new threat...

General Mechanics:

  1. The event begins by playing a short story dungeon. The quest is a free level 1 solo, but is designed to be played by characters of any level. This story will dove tail into new content coming next year.

  2. Players will be able to acquire a variety of lanterns from the Order in the Hall of Heroes. These are magical Trinkets which allow the player to detect Mist Stalkers and fight them better. There are two sets of 5 lanterns. More on that later.

  3. Players can hunt Mist Stalkers in any content they choose outside of raids. They can appear nearly everywhere but only if a player has a lantern equipped in their trinket slot while the event is on.

  4. As players kill/resolve Mist Stalkers their equipped lantern's durability (which starts at 1) will increase. This will make the lantern more powerful and when it is eventually full they can turn the lantern into the guardians for various cosmetic rewards.

  5. Regular Lanterns. These lanterns are bind to character and can be banked, but not shared bank, traded, auctioned or mailed.
    1. Lantern of the Pledge - Easy to Fill. Reward - Cosmetic Half Cloak of the Order of the Guardian

    2. Lantern of the Order - Long to Fill. Only Advances on Reaper Difficulty. Reward - Cosmetic Full Cloak of the Order of the Guardian

    3. Lantern of the Shield - Medium length to fill. Reward - Cosmetic Shield of the Order

    4. Lantern of the Seeker - Very Long to Fill. Reward - Mist Stalker Sabertooth Mount

    5. Lantern of the Keepers - Medium length to fill. Reward - Magical Lantern Cosmetic Pet
6. Skull Lanterns (Hardcore). There is a skull version of each lantern acquired from the "hardcore" guardian vendor in the Hall of Heroes. These lanterns work pretty much like the lanterns above with a few differences:
a. Skull Lanterns are destroyed on player death (regardless if they are equipped or not.)
b. Skull Lanterns can only be acquired at level 1. If you play an Iconic you can go get one if you forgo training but your XP will be set to level 1 rank 1.
c. Skull Lanterns cannot be banked.
d. Skull Lanterns are turned in for "Skull badged" versions of the rewards above.
7. Some General Rules and considerations about Lanterns...
a. The amount of Lantern progress rewarded for killing a Mist Stalker is relative to the quest's difficulty and the type of Mist Stalker that spawned. In this build we don't add more for additional Reaper skulls, but that may change.
b. No progress will be rewarded if the character's level is 3 levels above the dungeon's base level.
c. Mist Stalkers only attack if someone in the party has a lantern equipped, and will typically only attack a player's group once per quest. If your running really short quests Mist Stalkers will be rarer and may not appear at all.
d. All Lanterns have the ability "Shine the light" with 3 charges per rest. This ability can CC most Mist Stalkers and also cure/remove certain effects Mist Stalkers apply to the player. Using this ability can be vital for defeating the more difficult Mist Stalkers.
e. Lanterns will increase in power gaining new features as they hit durability thresholds. In this build currently this is just an increase to Magical Resistance Rating.
f. Lanterns may stop progressing if the player character's level doesn't keep up with the lanterns power level as it gains durability. If the player levels up to that threshold they will resume progress. You can see what level is required by looking at the lantern.
g. When a Mist Stalker is killed only lanterns within 45 meters will benefit.
h. Some Mist Stalkers have disposable minions, they do not count for lantern rewards, the actually Mist Stalkers will always have a title saying Mist Stalker.
i. Lanterns and their progress will carry through all types of reincarnation with the player
Known Issues:
1. Using an offering to Onatar might make your lantern appear to be repaired briefly (but it's not!)
2. Some Mist Stalker abilities are not in this build
-Torc
g. When a Mist Stalker is killed only lanterns within 45 meters will benefit.

Curious how this will work out for ranged & casters (knowing that you are within that distance?

Not sure about any of the rewards until we see them anyway

This is only on the new server? For subscribers?
Yes, as has been mentioned across a large number of threads, this first server is only available for VIP. You won't be able to transfer to it when it goes live and will have to create new characters. Future servers will have character transfers but they need to fully implement transfers and allow for things such as guilds to transfer.

If Ravenloft and similar areas were created by good deities to wall off evil powers, how come they are allowing evil powers to bypass those walls? It makes sense that they would allow us passage back and forth across the walls, since we act as agents of their righteous retribution, but travel the other way should be impossible. If those good deities are no longer strong enough to maintain the walls, who is punching holes in them, and shouldn't we be dealing with that threat? In other words, these mist stalker things are a symptom of a much bigger problem. As super awesome Legendary Champions, shouldn't we be going for the jugular of the power responsible?

I still have yet to see a post from someone at Standing Stone Games describing how this new server and event works. All I see is a bunch of conflicting player speculation.

will this have a special relationship with the Vistani tree? It has ‘Mist Stalker’ in its descriptions.

Isn't that... exactly what the first post in this thread is?

Special enemies called Mistwalkers can attack parties where someone has a Lantern trinket (items that you can pick one of when creating a new character or undergoing a TR) equipped. Killing them adds power to the lantern, and when it hits full power you unlock a reward. There's still some stuff we're unclear on, but this is about as much detail as we get about any special event before it launches.

Cormyr, meanwhile, is basically just another DDO server running on updated hardware.

As for the Ravenloft lore, what exactly runs Ravenloft is largely left up to the DM's interpretation, but the generally consistent stuff is that the plane is run by a group of largely evil beings known as the Dark Powers (a number of which can be contacted in the Amber Temple in Ravenloft.) What exactly their motive for creating the plane and trapping people in it is is unclear, but they've certainly never been particularly concerned about collateral damage.

And yes, we will probably end up going and picking a fight with whoever's responsible, but it sounds like this is going to happen in story content in 2025 rather than during the event itself. (This makes sense given the event format - since everyone participating will need to start with completely new characters, asking them to immediately go and take on a raid-boss level threat seems like it would be a tough ask.)

I may not fully understand this, but it seems like the "my little pony" version of hardcore on a dead end 64-bit server.
The server will be ongoing as a new server even after the event. This also allows both Hardcore and Normal players to player together at the exact same time. (IMO)This is also a model that may eventually evolve so events like it can be run on all servers.
Are they also restricted to 1st-life (new) toons, or can one start on a fresh TR?
The response was:
You can grab them with a fresh TR.
So imagine taking your Main toon on a normal server and running an event just like this. . . .

A question from one of my guildies was, "will there by any chance at getting any of the previous HC server rewards ever again?" (eg: footprints, fey wings, etc), or will it be variations from this Mistwalker event?

Tolero in her most recent video chat with Cordovan did say that Hardcore would be returning in future.

This event is taking place instead of one HC season, but it is not a replacement for HC itself.
