Lanterns in the Mist Event

I will throw my hate in the ring for the Shield Slot as well!

And I agree with everyone, that "intro" quest is crazy hard.. Even doing the mechanics, he seemed to see me a lot while hiding.. It was worse on my Warlock.. But my Dark Hunter did a bit better, still super hard.. I understand the concept of what you're doing here, but I think you really need to "tone" this one down, or something.. it was to the point of Frustration...
The intro quest is not hard at all....you just need to time the Balor right. I did it easily on a fighter wearing full plate, no stealth, no sneaking. Move to the next hiding box when he is not facing you. My only deaths were because I thought I could just kill him.

Make the required Hall of Heroes lantern quest shorter or let people skip it. Most people are going to just want to just grab their lanterns and go. I understand it's for story reasons which is cool but it's a little long considering its purpose. The sneak parts are interesting and I'd like to see that in a regular quest but just not here.
The quest has a learning curve to it. After the first run I am sure that I could run it on any toon with minimum time. IMO I think they are also testing new mechanics for use down the road.
I would recommend taking the lantern hall of heroes teleport NPC off the veteran status boat. I teleported to the Hall of Heroes from the vet status boat with my new level 1 character immediately, realized after taking the lantern port I could no longer get back to the Korthos beach to run the Grotto. Therefore I had zero gear and no weapon. People starting new characters without established characters to pass stuff through the shared bank are going to have to punch rats in their underwear to start if they also do this. Since the event requires a level 1 start anyway, just don't make it available until after the Grotto.

Also, put a teleporter back to Korthos next to the lantern NPCs in the Hall of Heroes please so level 1 characters can get back to the starter area after grabbing their lanterns, without having to run all the way there from the Hall of Heroes.
I would keep the one in the Hall of Heros but I would also like to see one added to Korthos if possible. That way right after running The Groto you can then run (be indoctrinated by) the Lantern Quest.

Edit: I was going off the quoted post when I suggested having a Lantern quest in Korthos. I now know there is one there already.

There already is a Lantern on Korthos.

I have been running the event, and a couple of bugs, plus things people here haven't talked about:
1) Some of the MistWalkers names are incorrect
2) MystWalkers can also be champions (Bug?)
3) The lanterns from Zuria say to take to Barston in the description, and those from Barston say to take to Zuria
4) If you have lanterns before you reincarnate, they stay with you in the TR Cache (I did a racial), and you can continue them after a TR (i.e. the durability gained in one life continues to the next)
5) There is no differentiation on the icon between the hardcore (Skull) lanterns and the regular ones. (Turns out there is a small skull that is hard to see on the hardcore versions).
6) I got a MystWalker in the intro quest at level 1
7) As others have said, a cosmetic slot would be better, but I don't believe those slots can currently give effects (i.e. Death Block and the clickie), though I may be wrong
8) I can take all 8 Lanterns at the same time
9) While using a hardcore lantern, upon death all hardcore lanterns are removed from your inventory, AND non-hardcore ones that have some duability added, but the ones with none stayed. (The lanterns were in my bank)
10) Like the hounds hardcore, if you die, the Mystwalker stays.
11) You can pick up the hardcore lanterns as long as you are level 1, however, it resets your XP to 1070 if you have more than that, however, I kept the action points for the ranks above that.

For those of you that say the quest was easy, how did you survive the Balor after pulling the lever? I go straight to the hiding spot and he always comes straight for me and kills me.

Also, There is a spot(or many) on the way to the lever where you can die too far from the res shrine to res and you do not get teleported to the shrine.

Pulled the lever, went to the hiding spot and use Sneak. Though I have seen this not work with a character that has really low Hide.

If you just hide there, he will walk around and then teleport back to the previous room.

My issue was even though I was in the blue light behind the plant he just one shot me plenty of times... Hiding or no hiding.. maybe it was just my RNG luck again...

Another suggestion is why not make the quest just flag your entire account, as I did not enjoy the intro quest at all, so if I want to run more then one toon (say, I will have 1 with 1 friend and another toon for another friend to play with) I have to run it again to get flagged? I super enjoyed the story that was building from the plaques (I about lost it when I saw Domains Of Dread talked about) so I can't wait to see where the story goes, but the quest with the Balor is just meh.. Sorry. I get that some people had no issues. Which is great for you.. As I've said before me I was hiding in the correct place and he still just one shot killed me.. So bad luck (RNG) for me? Who knows.. if you know me probbaly yes.. But this will make me think about how many toons I want to run this with for sure...

I was killed a couple times because the Balor back-tracked on it path and walked into the hide-spots (insta-kill for me). Other than that, it was pretty easy. You just need to be patient and kinda figure out it's path/pattern.

I have run it once and ended up dying 4 or 5 times. From what I saw it looks like part of the mechanic is the closer he gets to you the higher the difficulty of hiding becomes. I was afew feet from him at one point in the Hiding Spot and sneaking before he noticed and kill me. I was next to the plant and he had stepped within the corner of the blue box for reference.

There is one on Ko0rthos.

Is this the test of the event or the actual event?
Isn't the current event the test and then the server is cleaned for the actual event start on Cormyr?
I.e. anything on this server will be deleted in a few days or so?

Right now it's just testing. The current test ends later today. SSG might be doing more rounds of testing before things go live; we don't know yet. But it'll be fully wiped before things go live.

I think you misread my post. I didn't say there wasn't one in Korthos. There is one, after the Grotto right next to the Borderlands teleporter. The issue is there isn't a teleporter back to Korthos from the HoH. And you can't get back to the Grotto if you go to the HoH first from the vet status boat. They need to just remove the mist teleporter from the vet status boat and have everyone go to the HoH after completing the Grotto.

I may be wrong, but I'm fairly sure the Balor is scripted to kill you in that encounter.

I am not repro'ing #9, none skull lanterns do not appear to be affected by death. Can folks double check this?

I tested dying both with Lantern of the Seekers equipped and with it just in inventory and it remained.
I logged back into a different account which had Lantern of the Pledge equipped and no issues there either.
