Weve now had a number of updates and a number of extended maintenances and this is still an issue.

Every.single.time I log in I have to download 56.3mb worth of files.

The same files every time.

Doesn't DDO use old graphics drivers? Maybe there is a conflict with what it thinks it needs, compared to what windows 11 knows it needs? I remember the C+++ use to do something similar.

Some additional things to try, while waiting for an official response :
Someone having similar issues with Lord of the Rings Online managed to work around it with some network tweaks : https://forums.lotro.com/index.php?threads/stuck-on-44-at-download.612/
Someone having issues with that same third-party dll in a non-SSG game managed to track it down to antivirus software not liking it : https://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/1/648814845681724213

Thanks for this. I had a read through.

I only use the Windows built in AV. I dont have an issue with the download stopping, I have an issue because the DDO installer programme is incomplete and needs to grab 56.3mb worth of files every time I log in, which happens, it just annoying adds time (and downloads) every time I want to play the game. So I dont think its blocked ports.

Given the game works (eventually) I assume SSG doesnt care because they have never responded to any of the posts over the last 7 or 8 months on this issue.

Cheers.

So, 4 months later and still no response. I have tried installing through steam, installing from the web, anti-virus on/off, etc. Worse, the game will not remember any launcher settings. I have to accept the EULA every day, see the stupid intro video, resize my screen, and of course download some files, just to play. So, please spend some time fixing your installer, this is basic 101 stuff. Hoe can I trust a new 64 bit server when the team cant make an installer work?

I don't want to make fun of what you say but this is where the meme "First time?" has to be inserted. It would be a joke if it was funny.

Have you tried logging as admin THEN downloading? That's NOT the same as running as admin. And most software require admin level rights to download and install

How do you do this?

I have done the Run As Admin and it doesnt work.

My Windows login is an Admin account too.

The fix surely is for SSG to update their installer to contain all the files needed ans to ensure they install correctly.

This could be done any time there is an update but they dont care about new people.

so...you logged in as admin before downloading the game? I'm asking because the game needs C++ files and thus admin level access

the launcher always checks what software is on your system before downloading any updates. this ensures the launcger doesn;t download the entire game everytime a gaming update has been deployed.

This is universal and unrelated to new/existing gamers

Yet it downloads the same 56.3mb worth of files every time.

But it doesnt do this for people with an old version of the launcher.

BTW Ive never played any other game where it makes some users download the same files every time but most dont have to.

This is very much SSG. So stop defending their laziness.
