I was going to post the above here, but I see that's been done. Yes, this item is intended to drop but for some reason didn't make it into the update we did this week. It'll return in a future game update, next assuming it makes it through the build and deployment process.

Mannnn yall really covered your butts making shards drop from 97-100 on the silver roll and having DDO points earned in game because I could think of a few 3 letter agencies that would have a field day with a real money only currency being spent on false advertisement. The court of public opinion sees through the RNG of that though and clearly the responses here say a remediation action is necessary. Next build should have an NPC to claim the ring. Do the right thing.

Empirical evidence thus far indicates SSG gives pretty much zero fcares and isn't going to do anything about it on their side.

Well, stop killing games movement just had its hearing at EU parliament (Link in case you want to see it). Maybe it's time we start to investigate if something can actually be done about SSG.

The lack of laws forcing transparency is only going to get more and more abused as time goes by. Since nobody is saying or doing anything, SSG is gradually pushing forward to see how much they can get away with.

I generally wait to farm new content, exactly due to things like this being common. It did not affect me, but it does seem like some sort of compensation is due for the people that spent a lot of time and shards working to get something that was unknowingly unattainable.

Not so much fraudulent as not yet aware of all of their own errata that comes with each new release?

On one hand I feel sympathy for those that re-rolled attempting to get the ring that was erroneously announced in the release notes.

But on the other hand rerolling a chest for rare loot is a stupid gamble and it very very likely that you got the same result as you would have if the ring had been in the loot table. Rerolling on loot now only encourages SSG to put things rare to make money. By rerolling you are making the game worse for everyone.

In the balance, I have the same empathy for those willing to part with their shards as they have for those who dislike the rare loot system.

Regardless of whether it was a rare item or not, it was incorrectly excluded from the loot table, and even after they went back to fix loot dropping, they still didn't fix this specific item (who knows if theres others). Now players that want that item will have to wait until next Wednesday (minimum) to get it. As someone else noted, and consistent with SSG's theme, if it was a player-benefitting bug, it would've been fixed over night.

20 years of deploying updates with new items, and you tell us, for some reason, that the item did not make it into the update this week? Can you visualize playing 4 toons, ransacking each toon, running the final draw quest to farm the ring (Literally hours of game, more than 8 hours), rerolling 8 times the chest costing x15 shards = 120 shards. So 4 toons x 120 shards are 480 shards (WASTED). And of course, because there is no evidence of the shards spent, that money will be lost. Moreover, 500 shards cost 2,795 DDO points. To get 2,795 DDO points, you need to spend $34.99 US dollars to acquire 3,150 points. So I have lost $ 34.99 because of an unintended error. Maybe for you, 35 dollars is garbage, but for many people who decide to spend money, in this game, 35 dollars is difficult to obtain. But, like always, your apology isn't going to give us our money back. Pathetic .
