At a minimum, you should move that ring to the non-rare drop rate when it does actually show up.
At this point, I hope they don't. I hope they continue to make more of these *
mistakes*(?) going forward.
If they do, maybe more people will learn to stop wasting shards on the rare loot mechanic and try to hold SSG accountable for their poor decisions and their repeated mistakes.
For example, if the rare loot mechanic didn't exist, some players likely wouldn't feel nearly as much pressure to reroll chests like we've seen with this ring that's MIA. Afterall, why waste shards on something you can get in a reasonable number of runs (instead of potentially hundreds) on the quest without rerolling?
We (the DDO community) had the opportunity to learn this lesson the easy way and do something about it when SSG first started the rare loot bs in MD but, as a whole, we failed. If we had boycotted MD and made it a sales flop then, we wouldn't still be dealing with that loot mechanic now.
Some saw the writing on the wall, but not enough. Now, the rest get to learn it the hard way. SSG obviously sees the rare loot mechanic as a success since they've continued it since MD. As time goes, they're only going to tighten the screws further.
If enough players boycott buying shards and/or new expansions and made it clear to SSG that things like this and the rare loot mechanic are why, SSG would likely stop doing it. It wouldn't take long if the community did it en masse. One, maybe two quarters of that and SSG's executive team would have to explain the financials to EG7. Then it would change.
Given how fragmented the DDO community is, I'm fully aware this is a pipe dream but it's a nice one at least.
