Here is a poll to find out what the folks here on the forum think of the new style of HC game events.
I included enough choices to make it as fair as possible.
Thank You for your time.

I like the old way on a separate server. Now, if they would just nix the store on that HC server we'd have some real fun.

Full disclosure: I have not participated in the current mote style fey event because it sounded stupid, and is buggy - so my opinion may be biased.

purely selfish: I don't play the HC events, but new servers mean I get all the xpac items again for a new server.

I don't think the server makes a difference. It would be nice to have access to a hard core event always.

I went with HC having its own server. Doing it hybrid is silly. Having a first life HC toon coexistence with legacy toons that are completionist everything is hardly hardcore.

FAIL!

Mote people are annoying. I raid and do r10s. I am not doing hardcore, why do I need to deal with it?

The event is garbage. Seriously, who is this event even for, really? Casuals? Even ignoring the difficulty they simply don't have the time for it. Is it for the powergamers? No, they want to play their mains and that's not even an option due to the flimsy excuse of having leaderboards. Those two groups comprise at least 90% of the player base. On the fringes you have some in the permadeath community praising it but only because it forces people to play the permadeath play style, not that it matters because they're not spending any money on the event. I feel like that only leaves the handful of whales rumored to spend absurd amounts of money on these types of events.

The only reasonable conclusion one can make is that it's all just a shameless cash grab. Roll a new toon you don't want and don't forget to buy tomes and inventory/bank space for it. Spend shards on chest rerolls to get duplicate copies of loot you already own. Grab some overpriced xp pots from the store while you're at it since they'll halve the time you have to spend on this nonsense; in fact, buy extras since your pot time is going to vanish into the aether as you twiddle your thumbs waiting for a mote to spawn. Cordovan even speculated in a Fridays at Four that if you'd like to eventually remove the event property present on event loot then you'll probably have to remove any augments and filigrees you don't want to lose from said items; in other words, simply ridding your items of that irritating green border is probably going to be monetized as well. Considering all of this, it's hard to believe that providing an entertaining experience was even so much as an afterthought during the design process.

Hey SSG, I know you're a business and you're trying to make money but the way this thing was engineered is beyond greedy. Honestly, you'll probably make more money if you put the event unlocks in the store. Let the half a dozen people that find this event entertaining play it and "earn" the items the "right way" -- you know, bug exploits, multi-boxing, etc. -- and the rest can just buy the rewards outright so they can skip the punishment.

I'm a little apathetic to HC?!? I've only done it once, and it was kinda fun, but kinda stressful too (and it took away from my time on my primary characters). I'm not sure I like the new venue. I think the compromise just doesn't do HC justice. Maybe it can get better, but so far it is kinda "meh" for me at least. I will probably pass on any future events. There's not enough carrot to motivate me to bother. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The real point of the old hardcore was actually a consolidated server where you found people to play with (at least the first month). With the server mergers that's no longer an actual issue.

The secondary part was 'new server, new favour rewards, more tomes/bonuses/rewards from bought expansions'. That was removed.

So this new 'hardcore' style event serves no actual purpose. Remember this is DDO, hardcore wasn't actually about a challenge, it was about playing it safe. The new hardcore doesn't even need you to play it safe. Shouldn't even be called hardcore, it should be called piker's paradise (oh wait that's a moonsea guild).

I really find "hardcore" playstyle weird in DDO. First of all, I´m not really motivated to risk hardcore, as due to bugs and server hickups, you can lose your character at any time. The same with rolling a natural 1 at the wrong time. These are all things you can´t influence as a player.

Then the whole lantern thing I think is not really a hardcore challenge, but another grindfest and I just can´t bring myself to grinding anything anymore in this game. Seeing how little progress I made per quest and how many I would have to run for relatively little reward, I quickly just gave up on it.
So if they copy-paste another event like this in the future, I´ll just ignore it.

HC was never really my thing. I did one partial season with the dogs and got all the free gold rolls i was looking for. I think I parked him at level 10 and moved him over as a new toon with a bunch of XP balls. I did one lute because the person I duo with was doing a lute and figured I might as well fill one if I have to keep doing the fights for him. We filled it during normal game play so R4 for quick sagas or R8-R10 questing. We did a couple golden motes on R10 (did the witch one first that wasn't for our lute. Oops) because we didn't read and hoped we would get more durability.

I wouldn't likely go to another server to do it but I might if something else is released on our home server. Well if there is something I want or a guildy wants from it anyway.

I wanted to see how the vote was going so I voted 'Don't care' as to not effect the outcome.
Interesting numbers.
Also it would seem that everyone has a definite preference, only 1 person so far voted that they like both versions.
Keep it coming, if you have not voted your preference, please do.

I'm not sure that "Don't Care" isn't an outcome of interest, especially since it's the option with the most votes. If this were a true representation of how the community feels about hardcore and the company took feedback, then I'd say they would no longer spend time and effort on HCL.

Note: The word "if" is doing a LOT of work in the above. 🤓

Cant really make a decision on which one because I know nothing of the New Hardcore features or whatever it is you are talking about. I thought there was a hardcore server. I havent played in a long time due to my stance on their banking issues, and lag issues.
