to be honest, the only reason they are doing this wishy-washy Hardcore-ish thing to to try
and placate 2 groups of players with opposite view points.
The 'raid'-ers - who what nothing to reduce the number of player bodies available for the next raid (all they do)
The HCL-ers would rather play the game like the old school PnP games at home
SSG solution - make a pretend version of HCL, that is not really HCL
HCL get fake HC to grind out cosmetic stuff
Raiders can pester HC players to fill their raids.
Meh at best.

nothing cane be done when the decision maker is not attentive to the margin .
yes a lot on the plate.
so lets corrupt the code with more code before fixing the code code instead of separating the HC from the rest with an event server.
let see how it works out when they open server transfers and everyone goes to 1 server .

Hard core toons, as discussed a couple of posts ago should be a toon creation option that gives some restrictions and options.
Yes and I would go far - do like most other game with Hardcore does... if the HC Character dies, it DIES (a.k.a Diablo style), not moved to softcore (a.k.a PoE style). The HC toon dies, it dies and loses everything equiped and on the inventory (not banked/stashed).

Is pretty easy banner for "HC" and don't want the consequence of it.

in the case you on a live server there is no need to lose anything even equipped. other than the xp / favor basicly re-setting the toon at level 1.
but then that's more code on top of bugged code in addition to stringy code and old code , when is the ladder bug gonna get fixed < sarcasm.

Kobolds don't matter. *Except in Crystal Cove.
I don't mind the new HC as long as those not participating don't have that extra graphic around the loot. Anyone not participating should be able to receive normal loot.

I think the biggest problem with HCL is that it is attached to a grindy event.
You know what would work for me ?
3 small simple add on choices at character creation, players and guild can take care of the rest.
All this stuff is only available at character creation.
#1 the option to play an iconic (you have unlocked) at either Lvl 1 or 15.
#2 the option to play the toon 'Hardcore'
------- you can not use a rez shrine, if you release, your toon is gone and there is a time limit on how long you can be a ghost.
------- with this option, party members or hirelings can rez you if they do it within a set time limit.
------- The bonus for playing this way is +5% Exp (stackable) and you can open dungeons on Hard if your solo.
#3 the option to play the toon on 'Reaper Hardcore'
------- With this option, the moment you die, your gone ... poof
------- +10% Exp (stackable) and you can open dungeons on any difficulty (if your solo)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Done deal.
Let guilds hash out the rest of the rules and so on.
This would work.

also, if they have any events that they want to add a hardcore element, easy breezy ... HC and RHC are already in place, just need
to add bonus rewards if your toon is flagged HC/RHC

I don't think I can come up with a simpler solution.
Thoughts?

My thoughts on this subject are very complicated.

A good event...
a) Offers desirable rewards
b) Is easy enough for me to earn all the desirable rewards
c) Allows me to earn all the rewards in the time I have available to play
d) Has a fun story
e) Allows me to fight really neat monsters that do neat things
f) Recurs so that if I fail to earn a desirable reward, I can continue working toward it next time

The Fey event was really heartbreaking for me. It was so close. It had a reward I really wanted. Four, in fact. The difficulty was adjusted so that even I could complete the goal. Sadly, the time requirement made it impossible. Turn on Fey permanently and I would happily trudge away over the next few years with nary a peep.

I voted for an entirely new kind of event but have no hate toward Fey or Lanterns. (The Lanterns story was almost really good.) I also hope all rewards from all one off events are recycled.

set items for use as the fey event marking them in description not as the border.
if the toon dies it loses all xp and favor and reverts to level one.
is transported to the beach as if you just created the toon.
only starter equipment access able until you hit the bank .
as in the old hardcore you had access to gathered equipment from previous dead toons the only stuff you lost access too was the stuff in character bank and inventory .
I dont really see an issue in granting access to that HC only equipment in a tr bank once bank access is obtained.
[since some could have been purchased from the store]
if you die with items in the tr bank they are lost with a 2nd death.

would still need a choice to start as HC character or not.
and a lock out for LFM for HC only

which would mean either placing access to the bank in korthos or going to borderlands before running Korthos as there is a chance for death in Korthos [ which would mean losing TR banked items from a previous HC attempt.] this way you move the items to shard bank space from the HC-tr bank

ya and maybe revisit rewards for milestones... an epic level augment selection for hitting level 20, sentient set bonus set for hitting level 30. favor rewards of the same levels and cosmetics .

would require an open character slot .

would also give you the option of creating a new character class and race while salvaging the gather gear for the HC event. by moving the tr bank items to shared bank and deleting the toon and creating another.
