Level Limits for Progressing Lute is Absolute TRASH

Use a VPN; Opera browser has one built in. Or just go to the hut and see both mounts, they're both there next to the NPCs.
Checked the hut, the two mounts are almost identical, already did the easy summer one, thanks for tip, don't need to bother with the winter version. Disappointing design.

I only picked up one lute, thinking i could go back and get another one later, only to find out that I could not and would have to start a new toon.
This happened to me. Picked up winter novice lute. Later tried to get other lutes but could not. I was only at level 4 and so re-rolled new toon, not too much wasted time but still annoying.

Yes, to get the Lutes for the first time, but they could mark you as eligible for more Lutes. It's not well explained. I knew this because I participated in last year's event, but it's not well specified, and not everyone played the Lanterns.

This is what I thought. Because I had the "vow of glory" I thought I was then eligible to pick up other lutes, because why would the devs want us to clog up our inventory with all those lutes?

Thanks for link, pics almost complete too, only one missing is the hardcore mount, the one I want to see, any idea if it is a black version of the summer unicorn?
It is apparently black.

Level another lute until level 15.
This, but would be nice if you actually could pick up other winter lutes when still on a valid character.... which you can't so I understand frustrations of OP.
I also don't understand the "lute much match golden orb mechanic", esp since there hardly is any indication of what orb matches what lute.

I agree, but that has nothing to do with the dilemma of the summer lute that the op has.

Another level-related lute barrier to participation: when the event started, the static group I play with on Moonsea hit heroic cap and had to take 20 while we were doing the Vecna heroic saga. We were doing the quests on elite, so we were completing them at level 20 and within the supposed 3-level event range. Unfortunately, we got a message after fighting our first mote that our lutes would get no reward: our characters were level 20, and it wasn’t an epic quest. We had to lump it every time a mote appeared until we finished the saga and started doing level 20+ epic chains. Makes me wonder if The Dreaming Dark or Tower of Despair are a bust at level 20, as well, since I don’t think they’re classified as epic?

I’ve come back to the game after 4 years’ hiatus. I’m already having culture shock moments like running Dino Crisis for the first time on elite at level 30 and discovering I‘ll get 0 xp for it because Legendary has special rules or something?! I don’t know. These hard level restrictions feel just as fun-draining as leveling stones back in the day. (Which thankfully disappeared from the game shortly after I started playing, as if to say, “Hey! We understand this is unnecessary!”) I don’t get the point of making it so complicated, especially for players doing summer lutes.

As far as the winter lutes go, I’m the farthest I’ve ever progressed in a hardcore situation, but needing to reach level 25 for wings without getting distracted feels delusional for me. I’m playing like I’m balancing an egg on a spoon, and the server lag returns if I drop it. So careful, so demure. Am I having fun yet? 🤪

The level 20 epic thiing is not new and not limited to this. Its the way it is and has always been.

The rest is pretty much reading comprehension fail.

Reaper XP used to not apply between Heroic and Epic, but was changed so that a level 20 character could run L18 quests on Reaper difficulty.
For this reason, I also was surprised when I didn’t get credit for killing the “mote mobs” when running Vecna quests after hitting level 20.

I don't understand why the lute levels in the first place...
It's just an unnecessary hurdle.

"It's always been this way" is a bit dramatic, given there's only been one previous iteration, during the Mists event in Cormyr. Besides, these things aren't set in stone; they can be changed.

The progression thresholds on the Lutes are there to prevent you from farming everything at early levels. But setting the final threshold at 25 is a bit excessive, since many people farming racial PLs don't level epics. It would be better to set the cap at level 20.

Yes, I think the level 20 cap on the Lute is a nice compromise between having levels that prevent excessive farming at low levels, and not forcing people who aren't playing epics to go to epics. Maybe epic levels should simply give more durability per mote.
