Levelling up in Cannith crafting

Hi guys!

I have read/watched various guides, and the advice seems to centre around making shards with a very low success chance, using a success booster to max XP gains.

My confusion is that the success boosters have a rider on them that means they only function if my base chance to craft the shard is at least 50%.

Has SSG changed something?

Is there new levelling advice?

I will need to check in with that. If so that sucks. Doing that right now.

Edit: From the DDO Store.

+35% Crafting Success Booster x25

Used in crafting to boost your chances of success (success percentage) for a single recipe run. Simply place one into a crafting device in the booster slot and your percentage will increase by 35%. IMPORTANT: Boosters will not let you craft something that has a base success chance of less than 50%. Contains 25 boosters.

This changes the entire leveling system for crafting then. I will need to refigure the average amount of Cannith Essence needed. Right off the bat you may be able to go down from the +35% to a cheaper one for the same effect thereby saving a bit of Store Points. (All about the sweet spot for cost/benefit ratio.)

Yes things changed in the past and leveling is a bit slower, which I've noticed.

Wait till a crafting boost to xp weekend and chug the best pot. You work the level shards 1st. Don't waste mats. Keep in mind there are 2 sides of the room, bound and unbound to make. More XP is gained from the harder to craft shards. Success Boosters are a trap IMO.

You also need a metric crap ton of essences. I typically start with at least 50k+, depending on how poor I am. Prefer as many as I can get. You won't reach max. score without some pain though.

When working on that, I just crafted the lowest (%) chance BTA shards I had mats for and used the +10% Crafting Success Booster
and XP Booster from the Cannith favor vendor. Do the quests for favor and load up. That way if you Reincarnate you'll have a bunch
for later. You'll want to stock up first, so break down everything for essence and farm solo missions for other materials when bored.

It gets a little painful later requiring Purified essences, which you can buy (don't), trade Eberron Dragonshards in with the vendor,
trade in tomes you don't need, or occasionally find as loot.

I recommend not to deconstruct everything. Level up to cap (lv 30) and deconstruct all items from lv 30+ questing. The amount of Cannith Essence you get from those items is far superior to the heroic level. You do get 1-5 xp per deconstruction. It caps out around lv 10-15 so any item above that gets you the 5xp. When leveling try to only craft Min Level Shards. Do not use purified Eberron Shards, save those for when you need them. Do not use any of the Eberron Dragonshards. The best way to get Purifieds is to run Epic Sagas and turn the +3 skill tomes (If you don't need them) into Purifieds.

I use tomes for Eberron Dragonshards when I get them. Those Insightful Shards hurt : ) )

I deconstructed when I popped to the ship to rebuff, had a station there anyways. Yes, you obviously get more essences with higher
level items, but not everyone's Epic-level when they want to start crafting, or don't want to wait for a particular piece of niche gear.

I run the Wheloon slayers and open up the map. Aside from saga turn in I sometimes pull 2-3 tomes from rares. Always at least 1.

I just looked at my crafter that still has boosters and none of them say anything about not working below 50% success rate. I sent some +10% boosters to one of my non-crafters and it showed the booster added to the success rate. And my success rates were better with the boosters than without. In addition, I just obtained some boosters from doing the tutorial and they don't mention the minimum either.

It's possible the store description was changed, but not the item itself.

I just crafted last week some shards that I had a 38% chance of crafting, and that was with a crafting booster, so unless they changed the crafting in the last maintenance downtime...

Wait... When was this change made? I'm pretty sure I was not affected when I leveled it (this year) - but there were odd times where SOMETIMES I had oddly bad luck, but mostly not? Couldn't come up any rhyme or reason for it.

But yeah, as others have said: minmax sweet spot for least amount of cannith essence spent for experience gained via the ML shards. Don't use mats for leveling.

Use xp boosters and success boosters, wait for a xp weekend. Farm cannith essences at cap or beg from ppl who have excess or pay with your body and soul for said essences (or more realistically: with favours/filigrees/augments/leveling btc weapons/double slotted weapons/curse cards/...).

So nothing in game has changed but the store description has.
What does that mean?

Do they intend to do this? If so probably with the crafting to 34 update?

It would be a substantial nerf for leveling crafting causing you to waste more essence and possible materials. A completely unnessecary nerf.
Also Making the boosters worse would not improve their sales this doesnt seem a profitable idea.

Nerf quietly first, then increase prices quietly, tank the complaints, ??? profit

This is my experience and not RNG. Thus, I'm suspect of the boosters. Results may vary, but seem to defy mathmatical notions of probability.

The boosters still work as they normally did, nothing has changed.

But if it is a sneaky slimy shady attempt to put wording in for a future change that they will say was always not working as intended dont be surprised. They love to do this shady tactic. Just remember one thing they have no respect for you as a customer you are simply a money resource and they will try to pillage you anyway they can. Set your expectations very low and you cant be disappointed and then you can make level headed decisions about how you spend your money.
