Looking to come back to DDO - Will there be another Hardcore event or has that ship sailed?

As the headline states, I enjoyed hardcore far more than existing servers. I suppose much of that was that everyone is forced to start over so I don't feel like a mortal amongst gods. I also enjoy the threat of losing everything. I suppose it highlighted the need for folks who would excel in their role. It also allowed some lunatic builds to sing.
Anywho just curious. Hope all is well.

I kinda doubt they will bring it back in its original form (at the minimum, they've taken a break from it). The Lanterns event on Cormyr was the closest to that.. I think they're looking @ ways to do hard-core without having mass-exodus from main servers.

If you want to start from scratch then Cormyr is where you should start fresh. New server and everyone there had to start from scratch (no transfers as of yet). There should be lots of folks around that are not yet god like.

The playstyle you are looking for is fully available, come join us on argonessen in the EXTREME MV Permadeath Guild. Everyone starts from scratch with no twinked gear and we play at a much more difficult set of challenges than hardcore provides. Running with no ship buffs no house buffs, no hirelings, no loot running, and unlike hardcore our groups run quests on elite at minimum and the quests are run at level at minimum(level 3 toons run level 3 quests on elite).

Tuesday night EST between 5pm and midnight is our most active time. Send me a PM to connect or simply look for us in the who list, guild name starts with “EXTREME”. There is no other permadeath guild out there in the game that is more hardcore than us.

Cormyr wont provide you with the threat of losing everything, so thats not exactly what you are looking for.

It was specifically stated that due to them working on launching Cormyr/64-bit servers they did not have the resources for Hardcore. Lanterns in the Mist event was a new event style taking some of the suggestions/feedback from Hardcore for events on live servers. It is not a replacement for Hardcore. It was stated that they would like to continue Hardcore seasons in the future (also hinted they would be on the updated 64-bit server). (Last Friday at Four with Severlin).

Looking for something else and stumbled across the reference that they are planning on bringing back hardcore.
Fridays at Four with Tolero February 28th, 2025 Start at the 30:00 mark to 31:30. Cordovan also said there would probably be more information late summer. More information at 34:35 to 35:20 (this deals with leaderboard update for last hardcore season and Tolero mentions next years Hardcore season).
(Probably does not mean definitely! for anyone misreading that or mishearing it.)

Time will tell the tale. For this year at least we will not have hardcore (in its proper dedicated server form).

I have mixed feelings on this. I've only played HC once, but I'd like to do it again, and this year felt like a compromise. With transfers and a new expansion coming out, this may have just been something that they felt they needed to come back around on at a later date on. It's a divisive subject (literally) so we'll just have to wait and see.

In the video segment the ones that would set up the server are the "Engineers" who are currently tasked with getting the 64-bit server tech polished up and fixing lag. They would have had to pull people off that and do work on the 32-bit hardcore server instead of doing the updated tech. From the sound of it the next Hardcore will be on a 64-bit server.

Hardcore is too profitable for SSG not to do it again. We won't see it before the 64-bit server xfers are done, whenever that is. Any new hardcore seasons will be on 64-bit servers, and likely only allow transfers off to other 64-bit servers. I'm sure we'll see it during the 20th anniversary year.

I just listen and my interpretation of what was said is that next year we might get a new hardcore season with a fresh server but that definitely not happening this year. Then they went on to talk about an event similar to lantern event that will have a hardcore aspect too it which they share more information about this summer.

What I think going to happen is the fey event in the producer letter will have a opt in hardcore version like lanterns did. For a true new hardcore season I think you be waiting till sometime in 2026.
