Looking to come back to DDO - Will there be another Hardcore event or has that ship sailed?

The lanterns hardcore event was good but a little bit of a grind to do efficiently, our community had many that smashed out all ten of the lanterns(not using the exploit that people used at the start of the event) and we did it before the head of the beast nerf.

The only sad thing about the event was that they made the head of the beast super easy.

Our community ran in both the Chainmail guild and the Bloody Knights guild and also helped several players in those guilds acquire their lanterns, of course we were selective on which other factions of the community we decided to help. Our community definitely doesnt help people belonging to communities that think they can form guild alliances to try and “Cancel” other players in the DDO Community. So we ensure we help all but the “Cancellers” who we immediately “Cancel” ourselves, we have found many friendly players thru the process.

One of the best things in my opinion about HC the way it was, was the real feel of community that I've never seen on any regular server. That could not be replicated on a permanent server nor with a lanterns style event. That is one of the things that made HC great.

You are wrong. When the server opened up for EVERYONE you could run the event also. At that time people were calling Cormyr an EVENT server.
Your Wrong or I would have participated in it. it was VIP only they may have allowed everyone to play it but no where near the time they had it available to VIP so cut your semantics as if you did anyone a favor by allowing them to run the quests 3 times each and giving them 1 month to compete.

I think there's more hope now, with us having had the server merges because the drain on server population won't be felt as hard on the normal servers.

The lantern type event obviously just isn't the same as hardcore in its original form. They are doing a feywild themed event soon which I am assuming is going to be modeled after lanterns, but we will see.

Our permadeath community had ftp/premium players that joined the server when it opened to all and easily completed a full set of lantern rewards. Timing really wasnt an issue all that was required was to quickly level into epics so that you could fill the lanterns. Once in epics we were filling between 200-300 durability an hour without spending on any ddo store items, that rate easily fills a lantern in a day, sometimes two. Even after some of our members had all ten lanterns we continued to come on to help other permadeath guildies, as well as helping other cormyr guildies in both guilds called Chainmail and The Bloody Knights. Of course we were selective in not helping certain guilds that think they can control the gaming environment and shun people by forming guild alliances, these guilds go as far to threaten guild leaders that they wont raid with them in the future if they keep shunned people in their guild, “Cancel” culture ewwwwwww!!!

Cormyr Free Acess

"Celebrate 2025 with Free Access to DDO’s Cormyr Server for a limited time!

DDO is celebrating the new year on its 64-bit server, Cormyr! To celebrate the hard work our team has taken over the past year we wanted to allow everyone the chance to experience our new 64-bit server and the limited-time “Lanterns in the Mists” event. With FREE Cormyr access, the chance to grab any missed “Year of the Dragon” gifts, and the ability to play the limited-time event, now is the perfect time to return to the world of Dungeons & Dragons Online!

What is happening:

Starting when the worlds reopen from our weekly maintenance on Wednesday, January 22nd until 9:00 AM Eastern (-5 GMT) on Wednesday, April 16th, 2025, players of all account types can access Cormyr. After this event ends, VIP access will once again be required in order to access the server. Character transfers to or from Cormyr will not be available. Cormyr is a fresh start server featuring the Lanterns in the Mists event, which you can read more about on DDO.com! Cormyr’s open access will run through the conclusion of the Lanterns in the Mist event. "

This was copy/pasted from the announcement page. If you missed running the event I am sorry you missed it but it was open for all for 3 months. For the nonhardcore lanterns I was able to get them done in just a month and I know 1 person that is premium that completed both the normal and hardcore. (he completed the hardcore first then was disappointed by the minuet change between hardcore/normal rewards. I hope they have made enough of a change for the upcoming Fey Shenanigans event.)

Edit: There was talks about bringing the Lanterns in the Mist event back for all servers at some point. IMO they are delaying that until after they have a better handle on the lag, if they are going to bring it back.

you felt they needed help and guidance to reach the lantern quota, which redirected your attention from continuing on and help others who had a disadvantage. honestly it was not the community's wish to have the event VIP only.

this is misdirection from your original quote that I was wrong when I said the event was VIP only were it was started as VIP only . which was correct. weather or not there was time to still acquire Lanterns ( whatever that means, as I did not participate ) the point is you got an early start then the community because it was VIP only which makes my statement correct and you WRONG to correct me

What part of my response didnt you understand, i helped many ftp and premium players get their lanterns. I would have helped you as well, look for me in the next hardcore event, i have very few restrictions as to why I wouldnt help an individual, just dont be involved with one of the “Cancel” culture guilds and you will have a whole community behind you.

would you have needed to go out of your way and help if someone had not started late in the event? possibly I'm that type of player myself . but not for that particular reason

you miss read the quote it was not you that was misdirected it was you who were doing the misdirecting. by getting off topic of the original post of how wrong I was in stating the event was VIP only. as it was to, well we helped everyone and there was enough time to still do the event. it was started as VIP only and I did not participate. you said" I was Wrong and you were wrong to state that because I am correct.

Exactly how am I wrong when your statement was "it was vip only" when in fact when it opened for everyone (including F2P) for 3 MONTHS.

Edit: My apologies, it was 3 Months minus a week delay.

Lots of people needed help regardless if they were VIP or not, many players did not know how to deal with main boss “the head of the beast” and our crew took care of many people thru the process whilst we destroyed the beast over and over. We would have helped you too, assuming you werent on our list of guilds you could not be a member of.
