Add songswrath and brakestuff to every single world my names was taken on last night. Before I even got logged in.
I had both the names since late 09. Brakestuff is even spelled wrong so you know it was intentional grab. Thanks to a guildie making a dummy to hold guild name tho. We got that
Your request (424094) has been received and is being reviewed by our support staff.. ticket still chilling for review

I lost two character names out of sixteen. My main and a storage character. I only care about my main. It was one of the characters I made on day one of when the game went live. I waited to transfer because I read about some issues that were suspected to be problems with old characters. Then packing and transfers were disabled for awhile. And once they were back looked into what I needed to do and saw resurrection caches needed to be emptied. That took a while to sort out. Anyway I'd really appreciate it if I could get that name back. Thanks for making this thread.

Kalen formally on Ghallanda, currently Kalen-1 on Thrane.

I had Erofen and Erofenfive (like, lol?) stolen on Thrane. I also lost Ero on Moonsea and Shadowdale. I think the person who took Erofenfive might have it on multiple of the new servers too, so if they are harassing you, it isn't actually me.

Greetings,

Thank you for following up and for providing the screenshots. I’d like to clarify how names work in DDO/LOTRO.

Character names are available on a first-come, first-served basis across each server. When multiple servers were merged or when players created characters at different times, many players naturally ended up choosing the same or similar names. Because of this, it is very common to see the same name held by different players on different worlds, or by someone who claimed it first after a merge.
This situation is not considered trolling or a violation of our policies unless there is clear evidence of targeted harassment (for example, another player openly admitting to stealing your name in order to harass you). In those rare cases, we can review and take action.

If your concern is solely about reclaiming a name, please note that we are unable to reassign names already in use. If your character was transferred and received a “-1” suffix, you are entitled to one free rename using the in-game command:
/changename <newname>

We understand that losing a long-time name can be disappointing, and we appreciate the history you’ve had with your characters. Unfortunately, names are not reserved indefinitely and remain first-come, first-served.

If you do experience any direct harassment tied to this issue, please capture chat logs or screenshots and submit them so we can investigate further.

I guess the screenshot of the dude with the placeholder last name going up to me and "/dance"ing isn't enough for them. Absolutely ridiculous.

I got a couple names that I had lost, and removed the -1 from another one. I'm keeping them, but I'm also glad that they are not on the list.

Well your posts have always been driendly and engaging even when they are opinionated. I would hazard to guess that alot of the people that lost their names did well to aggravate other people with either trying to take power of other people such as guild alliance on servers that invoke their own vigilante sense of justice or likely were complete and utter trolls on the forums that somehow with either being a big spender or having inside connections got away with it at the expense of the people they targetted/bullied which were somehow the ones that ended up being forum punished.

In otherwords i am guessing alot of the name stealing would come from vengeance for original wrong doings, whether it is wrong or right that is my theory on all this. If thats the case then I guess thats whats known as karma, and it is likely in the end where names have been stolen and people are taking on the identity of the original name holder we will see punitive measures for them.
This is exactly what I have been thinking about a lot of the name sniping. I know that on Khyber we had several well known people that were elitists or just jack***** to people and probably lost their names for revenge.

If it makes you feel any better, here's what I'm dealing with (ticket 424877). Totally not someone trying to be me, cause I never play a dragonborn bard. Still not 100% sure why they are showing up in the guild either. Though we did do a guild rename and they had the "correct" guild name prior to us getting rid of the -1. Which leads me to believe they haven't logged in after the guild rename, so that information hasn't updated for them. (Eoins is my Shadow Crypt opener, so that account is fine)

It doesn't, but sorry to hear you lost your name too. Friends list doesn't work properly with someone having a -1 and someone without it. It likes to merge entries.

TIL, I want to be surprised that the friends list is bugged like that, but yeah...

🤞They get you sorted out.

If anyone has intel on who has <Lava Divers> on Shadowdale with members sending harassing tells
The amount of effort put into nasty behavior like that always astounds me. Only met a few LD folk on Thrane so far with some joining our raids, but y'all have been great team players, follow directions (even though I suspect we deviate from what you do), pass unwanted drops, etc. etc.. Even patient with lag as we try to gather the herd up.
Given the average age of DDO players is probably well into the 30s or even 40s now, that really is just sad more than anything.
Not surprised. I referee soccer. Wide demographic on age, race, gender. Without exception, the nastiest players are the over-40 men. So much so, that I typically end up solo ref'ing those because no other ref will do it. Saw a 50y-old get in his car and chase another around the field after a game once.

There is absolutely nothing more childish than a 50y-old man throwing a tantrum.

OK, so I'm guilty of pinching a few names that I used to have years ago but lost during various forced server merges and transfers and I'm starting to feel a bit bad that I might have stolen someone's main name or something.
Nice work tracking this; names can matter a great deal. All my names moved fine, even my silliest bank character (Banknab). It would not have mattered if it was, but I was amazed it wasn't -- didn't move him until a couple weeks after 64 opened.

BTW, love the crazy cat icon!

You're lucky it wasn't you!

I've seen a car come onto a pitch and try to run over the ref. Was a kids game too. 😂

Edit:
TBF the ref was honking. Surprised he even managed to see it coming! 😎

Ouch. After the over-40 men, the next worst are the parents of 6y-olds. Fortunately, out here most sub-10y games are AYSO, which has strict rules for fans. Means I get to throw cards at 'em and have -- red only once. Yellow is usually more than enough with all the kids watching wide-eyed and parents glaring.

Yep I've seen more violence from parents at kids games than Old Firm matches... It can get very vicious very fast.

The car incident was a topper though. Police called, the works. 😂👍

After a long process of back and forth and finally messaging Cordo, I ended up getting Rob Smith to restore my names (and some of my missing items from a different ticket). Erofen and Erofenfive are once again mine on Thrane.

Can you give us a little more info? Did you get them back because those names were just parked and not being used actively? Would help some of us with desire to get names back.

Hm, I wrote a ticket about 8 weeks ago and I got no reaction altogether. Do we really need to contact Cordo about these things ...

I mean, I included some screenshots of it being used to troll me in game (for Erofenfive at least). Otherwise, my name is unique enough to where it can't be a coincidence.

Not sure. Cordo actually didn't respond to my message (at least, yet), but the timing of the CS responses after I did that is pretty suspicious.

Unless you have conclusive proof that is was Cordovan who assisted there, I wouldn't go and claim this to be the case however suspicious a timing of it all, because if it's inaccurate, then Cordovan will get hit with many more messages for something they were never part of in the first place.
